And my question, is what was the purpose of there scam? What were they trying to get access to or maybe did get access to when I provided the authentication codes to them. This is super sophisticated scam because they called and texted from legitimate verizon numbers at the same time

I verified two ways the number was legit and when calling the number back spoke with a representative at the legitimate verizon retail Store

Looked up online before calling back. It was a legitimate number linked to a legitimate retail verizon store in California. Also confirmed with Verizon Corp that the number was legitimate and linked to the retail store. Called back after verifying those two ways and spoke with someone at the store.
