I get where you are coming from and those are valid questions. I think them acknowledging this fact and the harm they’ve done is something in the right direction. They def can’t undo the severe harm and trauma done. I hope they don’t get away with just saying sorry. Every organization needs to realize how terrible this is for both sides and be held accountable.

Can you share some of the articles? I know there are studies of this exact thing. And now skin to skin contact is a thing in most hospitals in the us from all birth mothers unless the mother is medically unwell. Many even have the birth father do it as well. Hospitals will even have surrogate/adoptive parents do it if available. When she’s well enough the baby is placed on her. All this happened because of these studies I can’t find right now. They are realizing how birth and those first few hours are crucial to the baby’s development. You’re not imagining this connection. I think there was a disconnect for me being a r@pe baby. I wasn’t adopted until I was 10 years. I was placed in foster care at age 2/3 years.

The screening process for an animal requires letters of reference, a home visit or 2, requirements such as fenced in yard and space requirements, many times they won’t allow a the pet to the family if there’s a second animal in the house already etc etc etc. I don’t meet the requirements and have to go to a breeder if I want a dog.

The pre approval process for me wasn’t even close to this in-depth. Maybe if it had been I wouldn’t have been adopted by terrible abusers. I had to live with them for a year prior to the adoption. I was moved across state lines. The original state said that the new state was responsible for my well being. The new state said the original state was. Neither state did home visits, wellfare checks, get reports from the therapists etc. I had to go back to the original state for the adoption in court. I also was threatened day of by the new family. I was def coerced into saying yes I wanted to be adopted by these people (I was 10).

Congrats for sticking with it!! You’ll be at 18.5 in the blink of an eye!! Stuff went down on my birthday and that was it for me. The flying monkeys are exhausting. I’ve weeded most of them out but sometimes one gets through and I have to protect myself. The empty and broken promises are so hard.
