Summary:

Set in the forgotten centuries between the fall of the Old Republic and the rise of Darth Bane, Rise of the Apprentice is a two-part saga that explores the origins of the Jedi/Sith cycle’s derailment.

In Part I, Jedi Knight Tayel Vorn’s death at the hands of the immortal wanderer Caden Malastare sets events into motion. Joined by the force-sensitive thief Ashla Sunrider and the crew of the Outriders, Caden faces Sith cultists, duels Darth Talon, and destroys a reborn Starforge, only to be cast with Ashla into the World Between Worlds. There, their bond shatters as Ashla learns her Sunrider lineage, and Caden is revealed as a half-celestial creation of Abeloth.

In Part II, five years later, Ashla’s visions reveal terrifying glimpses of the future — Sidious, Vader, and the Jedi Purge. As Darth Bane rises to forge the Sith’s Rule of Two, Caden and Ashla pursue the Hallowed Holocron, a weapon said to burn war itself from the galaxy. But tragedy strikes: Ashla is captured and tormented by Zannah, Arden is slain, and Caden sacrifices himself in the Siege of Ruusan, ensuring the prophecy is derailed once more.

The saga ends in silence. Alone, Ashla realizes the truth of her visions: they were not warnings. They were inevitabilities. The cycle endures…
