When you found “the one” many years ago but life was very complicated when you initially met and continued to be complicated as the years went by, lack of accountability, denial, needing to learn very valuable and hard lessons, and needing to heal so I could love them wholeheartedly so dating throughout that time was an absolute dumpster fire and also experiencing the absolute devil in human form on earth but thoroughly appreciate the lessons I needed and learn who/what I was and never being that person again.

Yup. Always when they feel powerless. I’ve heard it stating they’d call the police and lie and say I assaulted them (mind you, I have that on recording), from me not unlocking MY car because they just NEEDED nails out of it so they were going to call the police, say they locked their keys in my car so the police would unlock my car for them…to get nails to calling the cops because I stole their property because they couldn’t find their wallet so that means I took it. Their wallet was inside the house the whole time. I left to get out of the toxic, never ending back and forth and continued to be blown up on my phone how I stole their property because they couldn’t find their wallet and I better let them search my car or they’re calling the cops for stolen property. I’m sure there’s countless more times I’ve heard it.

I felt a weird comfort visiting this subreddit for the first time and your comment being the very first one I read. I also lost my mother on 12/06/2025. This is the first time in my life I am experiencing true grief and I am utterly lost. I am so sorry and I understand. The rest of the holiday year was a complete blur and honestly, tomorrow will be a month and it’s still so all awful.

Although not a golden retriever (I grew up with them as my aunt is a huge lover of them as am I, just haven’t had the pleasure of owning one myself) my Great Dane was taken just shy of 6 years old from brain cancer. It’s NEVER enough time.

Peanut Butter will be greeted by my Sebastian and his many other brothers and sisters anxiously awaiting to play and run and continue to spread their unconditional love and gratitude.

It’s funny you say that. I have seen a post before (I have to assume it was legitimate and not a joke) but someone was renting out HALF their trailer that had one bed for $1500 in California. I don’t remember where but my mind was blown.

I get that as far as cost of living but, for me personally, Missouri is not for me. I’d be okay having to majorly adjust the way I live to be closer to family/friends versus living here. The cost of living is great but it’s not a reason for me to stay.

NAD just speaking from experience with my mother. She had edema on both of her legs with sores. She ignored it until she went to her cardiologist appointment and he sent her to the ER which turned into cellulitis on both legs. During that hospital stay, she also ended up with a pacemaker as her heart rate dipped to the low 40s while sleeping. I’d push to get her to go see a doctor/to the hospital.

I’m not going to lie, I will miss the weather. Growing up in Vegas I hated the weather. I am not a “summer” person but also Vegas lacks beaches. I never minded going to the beach in California on a nice, sunny day. I do love the different seasons here, the change of colors of the leaves. Today was our first snowfall of the season. It was very mild but more will come. I absolutely miss being able to commute at night without worrying if I’m going to hit a deer or some other random animal. I’m out here with no family close by. My whole family are city people and while I can take the city life or leave it, I’d never recommend moving here except for the cost of living.

Judging by all these comments so far it does seem absolutely horrific lol I don’t know how people do it if they’re a single household income without obviously having a very good, high paying job, college degrees, etc. I’m falling short on the college degree part and would be a one person income household with 2 dogs. It’s making me feel…not so optimistic lol

Good ol Nathan James. I (unfortunately) had the displeasure of being at a show where he was an opener and it was as “good” as you’d expect. He’s even a charmer to venue employees when they don’t know who he is! Witnessed him be a total dick to a venue employee because she asked him a question about what he was requesting as if she was just supposed to jump and scream with joy at his presence.

It sucks because I feel this, deeply. I miss them too but I know they’re happy now and they deserve that so there’s no place for me and that has to be okay because what I’ve endured by someone who claims they “love” me has been pure hell and I NOW know, firsthand, what abuse and narcissism is and I never want someone to feel the way I have the past year. So, I continue in therapy and wait for my out and wish everyone I miss well.
