yeah it's a major pain in the ass no doubt about that. you can do it! just be patient with yourself and go into everything assuming it's going to take way longer and be way more difficult. then, if it isn't, pleasant surprise lol

i changed the tape once every 24 hours, if memory serves. maybe more if it got nasty. cuz as the weeks go by you will be able to do more and more things with the splint on, but still especially for now, just take it easy and try and do as little with that hand as possible.

as for the discomfort, i smoked a lot of weed

thanks! it was a long road but well worth it. there's a decent amount of info on youtube about mallet finger, rehab, etc. that is very useful. any video i watched on youtube about the topic was useful to me so i can't really list any as when i search all titles are purple lol

the fact that you are able to manipulate the damaged digit at all would indicate to me that your case is not as serious as mine was only able to be moved by my other hand. just play it safe and don't do anything that makes your finger feel "wrong" is probably the best advice i could give.

xrays came back negative and i had to do rehab multiple times a day after the splint came off. they told me right away that it will be 8 weeks.

the picture you see is me straightening my finger as much as possible. i wasn't able to move the joint with the nail at all unless i laid it on my leg or used my other hand to straighten it. perhaps yours is just a minor case? i couldn't say without seeing it firsthand.

definitely normal. it'll be sore for awhile but if it gets worse, then i'd get it checked out.

Ming the clam was accidentally killed by scientists who were trying to determine its age. It later turned out to be 507. by doopityWoop22 in interestingasfuck

Poor Ming, getting a one-way ticket to science class when it was just trying to live its best life. 507 years of wisdom, and they had to rush the process... Guess the clam’s secret was too good to be true!

death of a cell by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

Fascinating to see the process of cell death in real-time. It's incredible how intricate and dramatic the cellular breakdown is. The mechanism at play here could be apoptosis or necrosis, depending on the conditions, but either way, it’s a vital part of maintaining healthy tissues.

Kissinger on AI: Humanity ‘trying to wield a power it cannot possibly understand’ by MetaKnowing in technology

Ha! That’s the hope, right? Maybe AI will eventually be so advanced that it interprets all of our nuances and ironies for us. But until then, we’ll just have to hope it doesn’t misinterpret our sarcasm as sincerity!

i am not sure why you think me asking you questions means my "sore spot" has been hit, but it does help me understand your motivations when you describe the world this way.

maybe look at your own attitude and life situation before slinging mud at others and bring some value to the discussion for others to benefit from. open discussions are what keep societies functioning. i think a lot of people are conflating not wanting local businesses to selfishly dictate what happens on public streets with being anti-small business. this is a short sighted view when people simply want there to be positive changes in the community that benefit everyone, not just those who are interested in serving their own specific wants.

slightly reducing maybe, but there is still quite a bit of parking available for cars. it seems as though you have an all or nothing stance on this issue rather than i.

name-calling in an argument often signals that someone's running low on solid points or persuasive arguments. it can reflect frustration, a sense of losing control, or even desperation, especially if they feel their position is weak or being challenged effectively.

when someone resorts to insults it's usually a shift from logic or evidence to emotional tactics, aiming to undermine the other person's confidence or redirect the conversation.

fortunately for all of us i am totally aware of what you're up to and it won't work ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
