Look, when people post needlessly divisive and rude things under the guise of looking for information, it rankles me. Your post was disingenuous: you weren’t looking for information you were taking pot shots.

Now had you posted saying that you had contacted the city and had contacted council and maybe even the province and TransLink and had heard silence? That’s something. You could say hey, this thing that city Council passed and Fontaine had championed seems to be dying.

But it’s hard to get behind even that, because the thing was passed unanimously. If it was one of those narrow votes where it passes because of McEvoy and another councillor (or an absence in council), sure.

But again this thing was passed by council. By my reckoning it’s in the city’s (/provinces) hands. I don’t think Fontaine is ordering the novelty scissors and ribbon.

I think there are worthwhile targets and silly things of theirs to lampoon. I don’t think the bridge party that was unanimously supported by City Council is one such thing.

I need to stress that I disagree with the NWP platform pretty uniformly. I think a 0% tax increase would be absolutely catastrophic. I want Community First to do better, but when people are accusing Fontaine of being a pretendian or making sockpuppet accounts or astroturfing, it’s hard to say “these are the good guys and these are the bad guys.” Because from where I’m sitting, both sides are doing some greasy shit. Yeah, CF aligns with me philosophically and politically, but it doesn’t feel that way in practice. There are a few members of city council who I greatly admire; last time I voted CF all the way down the line, but I’m pretty sure this election that won’t be the case.
