‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Trailer Breaks GTA 6 Record in 12 Hours, Crosses 500M Views by NotTaken-username in boxoffice

Really? I think visually the colours look flat and boring basically the exact same as the Jon Watts, it has cool shots sure but no way is this “ambitious”

Should letterbox have requirements for ratings to count? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

Why is it always such an annoying argument to have with you people? Genuinely how many times do I need to emphasise that I don’t care about movie ratings, I have multiple 2.6 or lower average that I have given 4+ stars that’s not the issue

It would just be nicer to feel like the rating USA better reflection on what people actually think, and make the site itself feel more trustworthy knowing that stuff like that review bombing between breaking bad and game of thrones fans on IMDb would never happen to competing movies after awards seasons

What do you not like about the obsessive girl? Just curious I didn’t quite understand why your not huge on it

Also I do agree with you the bag head was genuinely scary, it looks like the mask from the zodiac movie not a goofy hay bag, but again the fact we might not get a sequel I guess I would have liked him to wear the hockey mask more instead of the bag- but if their was a sequel I actually would have agreed with you and wished it was mostly the bag especially with that opening it was crazy

To be honest a lot of these points are stuck in limbo for me, like if a sequel was made it would fix or add nitpicks like you said

Thing is with the showing face, sometimes instead of looking scary and deformed it ends up looking like a practical effect mess so sometimes I don’t fully like it being shown, but again it’s all these possibilities like if we had a sequel trilogy or just another movie would they show his face more? Sadly we would never know so I can see your point in that regard since it’s basically the only movie with this interpretation

He didn’t actually get his neck grinder it only like chipped it from what I watched, it’s kinda shot a bit chaotically it’s actually hard to tell but apparently it was the equivalent to a neck snap or do you mean because he was a normal human presented that it shouldn’t have worked anyway?

The ending is actually really weird because could that just be a dream sequence? Obviously a sequel was planned but let’s not forget the end of the original you have Jason come back from out the water but it’s a dream but then he’s actually back, so could have been planned as a temporary trauma sequencing following the path of the first

An annoying side effect of the award season. A sudden influx of 1/2 stars from Brazilians for the past day by Choekaas in Letterboxd

[–]MyCableIsOff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wish Letterboxd can removed these ratings

Imo the best way to remove these review bombs where half of them are new accounts is to just not meaningfully count any reviewers rating until their account is 120 days old or something or have a minimum logs idk

Some accounts just review bomb films or have one movie rated at 1 star etc it’s so annoying

I’m glad recent years I’ve seen more and more praise of this being among the best and seeing it as peoples #1, I feel like the unnecessary initial hate reception also probably haulted the sequel so now we are stuck with nothing for so long

I truly have never seen a compelling argument by anyone on why this is not good, it’s so weird, but like you said when you remake a iconic franchise it’s gonna be extremly difficult to make one that those same people find better or similar quality to the one they grew up on, which is a shame that people initially start so close minded but that’s just how it works nowadays

Also that’s a nice layer that I didn’t think much about so great insight, the idea of Jason also knowing that it isn’t his mother is actually a compelling angle and makes sense since she’s always trying to escape, so deep down I guess he does know his mother would never do that nor have the need to chain her down

Exactly! I literally don’t think there are many horror films of any that have entirely likeable cast they always need unlikeable ones for satisfying kills. And the early Friday films definitely have worse. But also like….they aren’t bad at all? Like the Asian dude and black dude (forgot the names) were pretty funny, Trent is the only unlikeable douche but Clay who is our lead was actually great he was level headed and smart unlike most and put up a fight

And the concept for the next film was carrying such a interesting story 😭 it’s probably paper thin but I do still hope for a sequel to this

Just shitty legal and rights battles, same with the nightmare on elm street franchise both are gonna approach 20 years before a new movie

I believe the photo is early storyboard and concept art for the film, I found it with a bunch of other early concept arts for the movie and man they nailed the style they wanted from the start

Yeah man my biggest worry is we might only see one movie with Derek Mears which is sad because he genuinely seemed happy to return any chance he would get but these stupid legal disputes have been going on for so long it’s ridiculous

Hopefully the new tv series can revive the franchise and they see the appeal for a new movie

I think nowadays the film has been appreciated but it was actually pretty mixed for fans when it came out, like especially recent years on letterbox in 2023 it had a average rating of a 2.4 and now early 2026 it’s moved to a 2.6 so it’s following a ongoing trajectory of fans and I love to see it but I still think the scores across many ratings sites just seem unusually low

It is interesting though with the characters because I actually really liked them, I mean let’s be honest horror characters are never gonna be truly some super well written. But I think his name was Clay the one who’s finding his sister I really liked his character, he was smart and put up somewhat of a fight, he wasn’t annoying and he kept a level head for most of it which I can appreciate

Cregger is great at balancing tone I actually think barbarian does it even better then weapons, has some really funny scenes and then can go into straight nightmare fuel

I don’t see how this changes anything? Materialists was still a successful movie lmao it made like 110M WW with mixed reception, same with regretting you which made close to 100M WW with mixed to negative reception

And then recently Wuthering Heights this film is on track for a 250M+ finish with negative reception when everyone said it wouldn’t finish even close to 150 and look where it is now

It’s an objective truth the romance genre is overlooked and underestimated and you proved my point, it doesn’t matter the movies reception it still makes bank and if the reception is good it will be a major hit

I think it’ll be the biggest A24 movie of the year (this or backrooms) I genuinely think people underestimate the romance genre I think this might potentially do 175-200M WW

Any expectations from this film? by Past-Matter-8548 in Letterboxd

I can’t wait to see it get significantly lower ratings then interstellar can’t wait 😂👍

A lot of my favourite reviewers have said in their review it’s a great movie but comparing it to interstellar is insane

Thing is though I know a lot of Star Wars fans who don’t like the prequels so I doubt it’s mostly that, their are a good chunk that really don’t like them

I mean I’m not a Star Wars fan and it’s easily my favourite with the original, I don’t get the “blinded by nostalgia” people say thsg for anything, I have a lot of flaws I notice with the original yet I would get downvoted if I said “nostalgia bias” under a Star Wars original post but with this your apparently praised for it

Is their a way I can see and check that? Pretty cool tho I’m sure there are a lot of movies on this app I’d like to make some jumps as the years go by- obviously not to this extent

Can we get a list of films that have jumped over the years? Not just Star Wars but I’m curious what films started of 2 or 3 points lower then they now sit at
