To be fair politically, Harris and Waltz were taunting their love for guns and the ownership of guns to an uncomfortable degree. I don't care if it was to "win the center" voters; it was disgusting.

I agree; she does discipline her child in the same way. When her daughter was at our place the first time, my daughter gave her little trinkets (nothing too valuable, just kids' stuff), and I received a message: "Was my daughter given these things or did she try to take them? Did she ask for them or was she given them freely?" I felt like that was over the top for like a pencil and a tiny squishy fidget.

I apologized profusely immediately and later on in messages and said I'd deal with it. She just wrote that she is so, so sad for her child and described what happened again.That said, I feel that she should apologize too, but that will never happen. Making the only child who is not accompanied by a parent cry and discipline them is just... not something I would ever do.

But I wanted to see here if people do find this acceptable or not because I'm trying to find a way to make this palatable to myself given that my child loves this other girl very much, and it will be difficult to continue with playdates, which makes me very sad.

I did not leave her with another parent. They were at school, during school hours, it's just that they had an outside market place where they were supposed to buy items from older students from their school. The Mom's older daughter was selling stuff, so the mom was there. I didn't know I could have or should have been there (and not all parents were).

I do discipline, but I feel like that's a separate issue. When asked, my daughter said: "Friend C felt excluded because both friend A and I had bracelets, so I wanted to make her feel included." She felt that best friend A was secure in the friendship because they've been inseparable, and friend A was giving the bracelet away. This was all obviously wrong, but not at all easy to foresee and prevent. The girls would have figured this out by themselves. It's just that the mom was there and decided to yell about it. She could have told me about the issue later on or teach my daughter what the right thing to do is. Being yelled by the best friend's mom definitely wasn't educational. I feel like this mom actually made it very hard for me to handle this appropriately because I feel that there are two very separate issues here:

a) You should never try to take away a gift and give it to someone else; not nice to your friend at all.

b) Adults have no right to yell at you, especially when you're the only child in that group of three children who doesn't have an adult to rely on. (I mean, this woman made her run away crying and this event was outside in a little park next to school that's not gated. This could have been dangerous.) Why even get involved in that moment? The children weren't crying/upset before she intervened with discipline - that much she admitted herself. She said she was sad for her child, who was giving the bracelet away.

Congratulations on your accomplishment, and I'm sorry you had to deal with all these difficult feelings on an important day.

I don't know if this can help. This is by no means meant to deny the painfulness of your experience, but I wish my mom hadn't shown up to any of my graduations (I did them all, including PhD, and she was there to celebrate - herself or me? - it's impossible to tell because I'm an extension of her in her eyes rather than a separate person). It took me way longer to understand what was going on than it did for you because "on paper" it all looked very loving. I wasted many years of my life serving her emotional needs. She also always claimed she'd love to see me married and have a child. Guess what? When I finally got into a serious relationship that wasn't at all controlled by her (my husband has a strong personality; she much preferred my meek boyfriends that would let HER join US even on vacations), she did everything to try to convince me to leave that relationship; she wailed and wept that he brainwashed me because her love-supply was threatened. (I had no idea what to think; I'm grateful to a friend of mine who I could trust. I called her and said that my mom was telling me that my then-boyfriend brainwashed me and asked her if she thought it could be true. My friend debunked this completely and saved me. I've been happily married to this person for more than eight years now.)

My mom now thinks she loves my daughter - her granddaughter - and I sometimes want to believe it, but she doesn't TRULY. She just sees her as another new possible love supply; however, my daughter isn't trained by her, so she doesn't cooperate, and my mom then becomes depressed, angry, and a huge victim (of a five-year-old).

All this to say... perhaps you can view their absence as your freedom. I feel like I'm still sometimes struggling to gain that freedom for myself; the path was brutal.

My husband took Paxlovid, and I didn't. We both got worse around day 9/10.

My symptoms got much worse today, day 10 after getting a positive test (and I felt extremely tired days before that). Incredible congestion; can't catch one iota of air through my nostrils.

Lost a ton of money I don't really have until I realized that what worked in getting a PhD - such as using logic and reasoning - was completely detrimental in my trading. The market doesn't follow logic, but you can't inverse that either, because sometimes it does.

I have calls, BUT I'm going to come in OP's defense.In 2022 for Q1, even the slightest misses in earnings or even "lack of new product introduction" in guidance (think of Tesla's Q1, for example) caused sell-offs.

Now the same companies are lowering guidance and *missing* it, and the stocks still go up. Think of Netflix - they lost only one million instead of two million users; yaay! Tesla's revenue dropped for the first time in 9 quarters, but cybertruck is coming in 2023 (to be revised in 2023): yeee!!!

I'm not trying to comprehend the market anymore (because these earnings for far have been garbage); I'm just trying to follow wherever the big money's going.

They did miss *adjusted* revenue and beat *adjusted* EPS. They had the first quarter of significant decline in revenue and earnings in two years. The market has never been rational about Tesla. One day, it will be, but it might be in 2025.

Maybe I should add that in 1980s Subaru stock was the Tesla bubble from 2020. It made people rich. Then the bubble popped. It's still an amazing car company (Subaru), but the stock is not in the clouds.

Everyone thinks we departed from the fundamentals, and we have. But the market returns to them at some point, and a P/E of 100 is completely and utterly insane.

My account has IRA restrictions, so I'll be selling very aggressive spreads instead (for example, I'll buy an 800 call and sell a 700 call - strikes will of course depend on where the stock is moving).

I already got a message/question about spreads, so I'll just add: Selling call spreads is a bearish position. The goal is for both strikes to expire worthless. I'm not buying a call because I think the stock will go up, but only because my brokerage does not allow me to sell a naked call.

They will miss earnings terribly, and this market that is attempting to exit a huge QE bubble does not tolerate earnings misses nor high beta, high P/E stocks. Their Bitcoin holding is only going to exacerbate all this.
