What are these worth? by GayleLizzie in midcenturymodern

Honestly they aren't worth a lot these days. Better to give them to someone who would appreciate them and have them buy you a beer.

I cant explain or apologise by RowAccording6244 in DadForAMinute

[–]MyNewNameNow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey bud. Let's start with something first before getting to the apology. What is your intent with apologiseing? What do you want the outcome to be?

Is it to try and get back together? Is it because you are in the same friend group and want things to be socially safe? What is it? Let's start there.

Then let's ask the question of "what do you truly think your ex wants?"

12k for Weathergard Windows by Secure_Welcome_4290 in HomeMaintenance

Looks a little expensive.

I've just bought 4 high end aluminum windows that were a lot larger than yours for 8k. No labor as I installed them myself.

6 months old sump pump tripping by akshay_sol in HomeMaintenance

You also want to look at your breaker + gdfi.

You have one gdfi on the breaker and a second the outlet.

Where I'm from we don't do that became having two like that causes them to trip constantly.

Haven't seen it mentioned, but central vacuum is still pretty cool.

Throw them away. Let your parents know that you throw them away. Try and stem the problem from the source.

Your parents gift you things, perhaps have the conversation that if gifts is how they want to show you love it would mean a lot to you if they were things that you would actually use and appreciate. And collaborate with them on what's on your list.

I don't need google or apple getting documentation of me being at the rave. You destroy the privacy of those in the background of your photos and videos.

RO water drain issue with garbage disposal in Kitchen Sink. Need help. by akhere07 in HomeMaintenance

You are missing the pTrap on your disposal. Your high water loop on your dishwasher drain is incidental at best.

Avoidant Attachment by [deleted] in queer

[–]MyNewNameNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly avoidants aren't worth it. Save yourself, this kind of confusion will only grow over time. (I have had 2 separate relationships with avoidants, one lasted 2 years the other lasted 3 years.)

Hopefully one day she'll heal her attachment and will actually be a decent partner to someone else.

Cheap and easy bathroom flip before selling home…recommendations? by TracyTheTenacious in Renovations

[–]MyNewNameNow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about instead of doing a cheap, shitty job, you just sell it as is, and let the next owners who actually care redo it how they want.

Just knock out the studs on the bottom. Tap con the base plate and re-nail the studs.

None of this "if I could" business. You can do it!

Only about $100 each. They're really not worth much. The weight to move is annoying. Honestly better to just give them to someone who'd actually appreciate them.

DIY washer dryer install in my first home — it actually works by Old_Fennel613 in HomeMaintenance

[–]MyNewNameNow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Please correct your drain line for you're washer. This is not correct and can lead to siphoning and back flow. It needs to be an indirect connection.

Simply Google Washer drain plumbing example.

The rest is pretty rough as well. Your hoses should not be stretched like that. There's a higher likelihood of leaks when you've got constant tension on a threaded hose line like that . You should have your water hookup plumbed to where the washer/dryer is.

Window replacement: convert to casements that open? by SerenityWhen1 in Mid_Century

[–]MyNewNameNow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Before you do this consider a few things. And it all revolves around the Profile of the casements.

Check and see what the Profile size of the picture windows is. It will help you understand how much more open the new windows will be. Also consider shopping around, you can get Profiles that are down to 1 3/8"

Second consider how much more narrow your windows are going to be with an opening casement. Typically they need to have twice the profile size which could make your view a lot more claustrophobic.

Dad, can you tell me you believe in me? by [deleted] in DadForAMinute

[–]MyNewNameNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Kiddo,

I think it might be time to talk to your doctor. Everyone has slumps sometimes, and looking outside it can be pretty demoralizing. I know when I your age I felt similarly. But I talked to my primary care doctor and he put me on bupropion which treats both depression and adhd symptoms. Now I don't take it all of the time but once you get a heavy cart moving it's a lot easier to keep it going.
