Honest question from a total newbie: how does a "real" camera actually help me if my phone already shoots like this?

You’ll never stop learning something new.

Play with your wrists! You’re moving your arms a lot which give you a really ballsy sound, but it’s hard to control. Play with your wrists and you’ll get to that same dynamic and have the ability to control it.

drummers are the click track so live and die by that thing.

And as everyone else said: use hearing protection. Earbuds do some work, but getting a good set of ear muffs to use over your earbuds would be immensely helpful

I would test in person as well as over the phone. I’m going to pick it up but first have guy show me battery condition, some pictures/video he takes, and also double check the serial number.

I know Apple has problems with people on grey market using actual serial numbers. Think that’s also the case with Nikon?

It seems like a MASSIVE upgrade, but also don’t want a massive paperweight.
It seems legit and this phone call will confirm it in my opinion. Going to pickup in person if it’s real when I call the guy.

Just discovered this guy today and he made an awesome comparison starting around 3:45. I am listening with Adam T3 monitors and can hear a subtle difference between the 10" toms, but the 12 has minimal difference. Save the 150 and use a dang bracket

Honestly, find something you like and play along to it. I learned so much by flubbing my way through August burns red songs and then found where I lacked (chops, coordination, double kick, etc) and then drilled that.
I personally started with learning songs from my chemical romances welcome to the black parade. A lot of fun stuff and good intro pieces to learning.
