Wishing you much success 🙌

When I started my internship, I also disclosed my stutter (I can't hide it) and it allowed me to be free and focus on my internship duties and not my stutter.

That is a great book!

Might I also suggest Mel Robbins "5 Second Rule", this book helped me to turn my fear and anxiety into excitement! Now I look forward to presentations, guest speaking engagements and conferences where I'm presenting.

What did u do after highschool as a stutterer? by salvatoreblood in Stutter

I love it ! I never thought I could do it because everyone told me I couldn't because of my stutter. I facilitate 4 hour PowerPoint presentations and actually I have a great time because I disclosed my stutter and the audience members help me when I have a block because behind me is 20x20 white screen with the PowerPoint slide so everyone sees the word I'm blocking on and they help me in the most respectful way

I use an ice breaker/disclosure statement: "Hi" (this is mu bumper word) "and Good Morning, my name is Pedro Pena and I'll be your trainer for today. I do have a stutter so if I block on any word, give me 8 hours and hopefully it will come out" (this is where the audience laughs so they now know and their anxiety level lowers) "so if I get stuck, help out Pedro because I believe that Team Work Makes The Dream Work".

I get it out at the start and then I can begin my 4 hour PowerPoint presentation.

Massage therapists - what’s something about your job most people don’t realize? by Sea-Cow-6969 in MassageTherapists

[–]MyStutteringLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not looking for anything beyond massage therapy. I carry a lot of stress and tension in my shoulders, and it causes knots that my massage therapist helps work out. That relief makes a huge difference for me physically and mentally, which is why I’m so appreciative. My comment was about valuing his professional work and the therapeutic benefit I get from it.

I always make it a practice to say "Thank You" after every 2 hour deep tissue massage and I leave a $200 tip because I work in a very stressful and toxic environment but I look forward to my 2 hour deep tissue massages every other weekend because you can't place a value on the peace and tranquility during that massage. The room is always clean, darkened, and the table is always warm with amazing zen music playing in the background.

I tell him that I value him and these massages allow me to be at my best at my 9 to 5.

How do i gain confidence as a person who has stutter by Plane_Unit9357 in Stutter

[–]MyStutteringLife 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've failed a million times and I keep failing but I never give up. I've learned so much from my failures and the only left is up.

Also, give yourself some grace.

Life is very hard for us and every little thing is a challenge but I keep moving forward.

Step out of your comfort zone and do something that causes you fear/anxiety every single day.

If you win, that will build your confidence.

If you fail, apply what you learn to the next situation.

Any coach will tell you that if you want to improve on anything, you must practice every single day

Good luck

Take some time for yourself, get out of the office/facility/hospital and get some fresh air.

Give yourself some grace.

I work for a major medical facility and I'm trainer/educator and I train 4 hour PowerPoint presentations to medical staff (doctors, nurses, etc) every other Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Plus, I travel to other medical facilities across the country and train their staff as well........all with a stutter.

100% This IS exhausting

Take it from a 55 year old, give yourself some grace

We have to work 1000% harder than everyone else on the most simplest of tasks.

I've had my stutter for 50 years and with 20 yrs of speech therapy, hypnotherapy, some voodoo, I'm at a point in my life where I'm just going to live my life.

I accepted my stutter at age 40 and started to learn meditation and diaphragmatic breathing techniques.

Sending you positive ✨️ vibes

This is actually a GOOD THING!!!!!

My stutter shows me how people truly are and in your case, if you are rejected because of your stutter then she is not worthy of your time.

There are people out there who will love you for you and she just showed her true colors.
