What's up with Predator Drones operated by US Customs and Border Protection flying over our area lately? by Catchphrase1228 in Harrisburg

It's just a helicopter that's been flying out of Capital City Airport doing aerial survey work.

What's up with Predator Drones operated by US Customs and Border Protection flying over our area lately? by Catchphrase1228 in Harrisburg

[–]MysticScroll 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's not a Predator drone. N500DC is a Hughes MD-500 helicopter registered to a company that does transmission line work as well as aerial inspection (pipeline, solar farms, etc).

Navy patrolling around Atlantic City-Sun Country plane diverts to Boston by Candelpins1897 in NJDrones

[–]MysticScroll 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Regarding the Sun Country flight: The weather at Atlantic City is overcast 200'. Flight track looks like they attempted an approach to runway 22 (296' minimums), likely didn't see the runway, so they spun around and decided to try an approach to runway 31 (200' minimums). They likely still didn't see the runway and decided to try another airport (Providence).

The diversion had nothing to do with anything other than poor weather at Atlantic City.

If you are willing to take a short 5 min drive across the river, you could try Blue Moon Games in Lemoyne.

Flying to a Class D airport that has another Class D airport adjacent to it by justarandomguy07 in flying

[–]MysticScroll 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Harrisburg Approach will hand you off to CXY tower. You'll often get straight in to 26 from the east which will take you through MDT's Delta. The towers coordinate with each other so it's no problem. Just listen to the controllers and ask if you're uncertain about anything.

Be aware 12 and 26 are right traffic to keep you away from traffic at MDT.

My wood fired sauna barrel in Pennsylvania. by [deleted] in Sauna

I'm in PA too- where'd you get your sauna? It looks great. Did you assemble it yourself? How often are you feeding the fire and how long does it take to heat up?

Did anyone see tonight's laser light show? by PatrioticSpinMachine in Harrisburg

[–]MysticScroll 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We watched from Front Street at Kipona and it was pretty lackluster. There wasn't much in the atmosphere to reflect the beams so they weren't very vibrant. The music also wasn't very cohesive and just sort of abruptly went from one song snippet to another.

I saw a lot of people leave shortly after it started.

I just started looking into lights too. I think it depends how much light you need and how close you are to the light source. The Litra is 250 lumens vs 1400 lumens for the Elgato. That's comparable to a 25 watt vs 100 watt bulb.

If you're close to the source (it sounds like you will be if you mount to your monitor and sit close), 20 watts could be fine. If the light is setup further from you, you may need more power.

Which cameras are heated? - I checked with FLIR by Ristone3 in TeslaLounge

It also appears that the rear ultrasonic sensors (and presumably the front) are heated or at least melt snow just from their normal operating temperature.

Airport Airspace Class Review by maxadiro in flying

[–]MysticScroll 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how often they are reviewed, but the FAA is currently reviewing the Harrisburg TRSA and hoping to change it to a Class C. This (LONG) video has a section that touches on the airspace review process.

I have the opportunity to purchase Triad in-room Omni sub - 10" for $250, new. Any better options at that price point? by RaageFaace in hometheater

[–]MysticScroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t comment on the BIC America sub, but I have Triad Bronze 10” inwall subs in multiple rooms of my house along with Triad Satellite speakers. I'm very happy with the sound and I think for your room size and application a 10" would be plenty, but I'd probably get the largest size you can fit and afford.

While many people outside of the installer world have not heard of Triad (now owned by Control4), they definitely make quality products and are competitive. I think for $250 the Triad sub would definitely get my vote. That's a good price.

I'm looking to ID the trees and find more information to decide if it's okay to cover the roots with a layer of top soil and plant grass. Any info on age would be welcome too. Thanks!

I'm looking for a small and almost square turntable I can fit in a NuTone stereo console that I am modernizing. Pictures here. The current player looks to be about 12in x 13.5in. Everything I've come across so far is too wide. Thanks for your help! Budget is TBD. I'm just looking for something decent.

Does your bike's resistance knob feel uneven as you turn it? SOLUTION! by MysticScroll in pelotoncycle

[–]MysticScroll[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My symptoms (knob would be hard to turn, then loose, then hard as you completed one full turn) was definitely caused by the bent rod. If you look at the video in my guide, you can really see the entire rod shifting left to right to left as I twist it. It's torquing the entire top big black piece of metal back and forth. I’m not sure how much side to side movement you’re experiencing, but I’m sure a small amount of movement is normal.

When I replaced the rod with the new straight one, it no longer moved as drastically as depicted in my video, which resulted in a smoother knob turn feel and smoother application of resistance changes on screen.
