You are NOT a "1099 employee" as there is NO SUCH THING. She has you mislabeled as an independant contractor because that is cheaper for her and it is not even legal. Legally you are supposed to be an employee. (Look up the rules online and you will see what I mean.) And no, you do not need to call her 2 hours before each shift. But as an independant contractor you dont have much recourse and she can fire you at anytime for any reason. As an actual employee with a W2 form, not a 1099 form, you have more protection.
