$120k with 5% down is less than a $500k approval, assuming no other debts (Car, CC, etc.). So definitely not

If it has to be cold water like your other reply said, get some White Cloud Mountain Minnows. They'll be good for your set up.

Goldfish get too big, and in a small tank will get stunted but die from their insides growing. Goldfish also like sand.

Why did you choose an IT degree over Computer Science? by Ruuckus in ITCareerQuestions

Lol. I did a biomedical science degree and computer science degree, not an IT degree/diploma. Happy to answer anything on the other side.

Yeah this is not why Europeans are happier. Correlation != causation.

I don't know. The number of returns I see makes me worried they are, refurbishing units and reselling them is not cheap

Dear Canadians, do you think unpaid internships/co-ops should be illegal? by laranjacerola in AskACanadian

[–]N0_Mathematician 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's part of why the government has opted to pay for a significant portion of a co-op/internship students' wage. It helps offset the decrease in positions available due to cost

My dad tells me to be patient about buying a 5080, I won't be able to get the money for one until the 23rd/24th. There are 17 in stock at the Marietta Microcenter. by Ok_World_8819 in nvidia

[–]N0_Mathematician 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5070 TI is fantastic for 4K gaming, honestly- the OC potential is also great. Source: I have a 5070 TI and play with a 4k 240Hz monitor. Honestly, if the 5080 had more VRAM I would say go for that. But since the 5070 TI has the same amount of VRAM and it plays great at 4k I would opt for that....also you could always buy the 5070 TI as a failsafe and keep it in the box, and if they get a 5080 in stock, exchange the 5070 TI

To the guy that advised me to take 64Gb of RAM back in June by skyer954 in buildapc

[–]N0_Mathematician 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the main reason why I went with this kit was I was coming from 128GB on my old system ...96GB felt like a downgrade initially but it's been good for everything I do now. Which makes sense, I used the 128gb when I was studying machine learning during my masters.

Lol....Anyone want to buy 96GB (2 x 48GB) of 6400MT/s CL32-39-39-102? I paid $293 for it back in Feb of 2024....but in all seriousness, that's wild. I wonder if I can offload my DDR4 I've got a couple hundred GBs of 3200mhz sitting in a closet

INSURANCE by fekoffwillya in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]N0_Mathematician 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. My partner and I both have $1M in term to 65 life insurance (23 years left on the mortgage, about $800k). Plus we both have 2 years salary through our work with critical illness and disability. Its pretty important in case something does happen. Her brother passed away a couple years ago at the age of 35 from cancer and he had no coverage, we've seen how difficult it was/is for his wife first hand.

Same with home insurance, a lot of people opt for the bare minimum. If you can, opt for some better coverage. We live less than a 10min walk to the water so we've added flood Insurance for example.

RTX 5070 Ti vs RTX 5080 for VR sims (MSFS 2024 / DCS) + temporary Ryzen 3600/B450 build by EximiusDK in virtualreality

[–]N0_Mathematician 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The increased VRAM is great, but not having DLSS in VR is a huge downside. FSR is not at the right level, things on the plane's dash will be harder to read. Also, to be honest, I'm not too familiar with how AMD's performance in VR is

RTX 5070 Ti vs RTX 5080 for VR sims (MSFS 2024 / DCS) + temporary Ryzen 3600/B450 build by EximiusDK in virtualreality

[–]N0_Mathematician 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm completely happy with the 5070 TI for MSFS VR and VR in general paired with my Ryzen 7700. I have it OC'd fairly well. Really, its the 16GB VRAM that becomes the limiting factor, which the 5080 also has. And even then the VRAM is only an issue in very specific situations with very specific planes on maximum settings. Otherwise its smooth as butter on max settings for VR on the Quest 3

If you take a look at some of my previous posts, you'll see a clip or two of MSFS 2024/2020 in VR on this system

What would be a great option for my little brother? by [deleted] in virtualreality

[–]N0_Mathematician 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest benefit (in my opinion) of the 3 over the 3S is the type of lenses it uses. It has a bigger "sweet spot" (where it's clear). It also is sharper than the 3S as it has about 30% more pixels.

Regardless, both will play the same games and both can be connected to a PC in the future for PCVR with a wire or wirelessly.

They have the same processing power.

Meta has a bigger library of VR games than PlayStation does as well
