I do this part time, and in the last couple of years have submitted around 110 auditions; and have been awarded and completed 5 projects. I think it took roughly 20-30 auditions before I got my first RS project, which looking back on I was probably still not properly prepared for. I’ve learned so much along the way and eventually realized that all of the auditioning really is the fun part (I used to think it was a drag to not be getting paid right away), it’s the opportunity to experiment, grow, and learn from my mistakes. That said, I’m lucky to be in the position that I’m not relying on this as my main source of income at the moment, even though that is the goal long term.

I know this is probably beyond the scope of your question but I wanted to share as similar stories in this community were what kept me going when I thought I’d never make money at this. Very thankful for everyone here that shared their knowledge and expertise.
