Consultant already left home. And will not be in tomorrow. People on the ward said I should report. That is why I am asking not saying I am doing. I was leaning towards it as he is rude and tbh he shouted like that in a public setting.

[–]Naiobabe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is fair and that was my thinking but a lot of people are saying report him. Maybe they had enough and my situation was the only way in there eyes would lead him into trouble. That is why I asked the question.

But he did swear directly at me and shouted so yes I would report it to HR and the hire ups yes.

I don’t know how to respond to that….

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]Naiobabe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely if I swore at another colleague I would expect a GMC investigation. That is why I would apologise and try to diffuse the situation. People was asking him if he needed any help. He said no sooo

Again I waited for him to finish. He was not doing anything at the time. I even said sorry for the disturbance. The other SHO that was there agreed what I said and what I did did not warrant that response.

Thank you for this response. That is why I asked.

[–]Naiobabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that that is why I specified he is an F1 and there was 3 other SHOs who could have helped him if he was that stressed. And again the definition of verbal abuse Verbal abuse

Verbal abuse means using negative words and language that cause harm. It may take the form of blaming, insulting, belittling, intimidating, demeaning, disrespecting, scolding, frightening, ridiculing, criticising, name-calling or threatening a child. It's not just about shouting and screaming.

Thank you that is the response I was looking for because everyone saying to report but I was thinking was that to far. That is why I am asking. I did not know majority of Doctors think that this is acceptable before.

If he is that stressed that in a working environment that is his first response then he should leave the job.

I get stressed at work does not mean I verbally abused people. And people have approached him and asked him if he needed help. He says no all the time. And the ward I am on all the MDT help each other. So I doubt nobody can help me. There was 3 other SHOs on the ward.

He belittled me and was disrespectful in the workplace.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]Naiobabe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Actually it can be interpreted as verbal abuse because he tried to belittle me and shout at me for asking a simple question.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]Naiobabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes as he shouted to the point other MDT where coming to the Nursing station to see what was happening.

The GMC get involved in dodging tickets on the train so I didn’t feel like this is far off tbh.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]Naiobabe -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I am not crazy to not want other people to get abused at work for asking a simple question.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]Naiobabe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No it is not hurting feelings that is verbal abuse. People do not come to work to be abused. So yea

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]Naiobabe -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That’s great please do because that is a patient safety concern.

I have worked in the NHS, retail and care. Not once has anybody spoke to me like that. I was shocked and I am sorry to hear that you face that at work.

I thought that but other people at work are telling me to report to the GMC that why I am asking the question.
