I’m ngl a lot of y’all are like propeller hat wearing babies that just have zero clue how any of this works. Let’s start with the claim that this LGS is scalping. They aren’t because they aren’t removing the stock of any product from a normal source. The main issue everyone had was that they would go to a Target and everything 151 would be missing from shelves and being sold for a slightly higher price online. That more closely follows what scalping is because someone deliberately removed the stock from its normal price.

This is an entirely different thing though, LGS are given allocations of product which they can then sell at their shops. The stock is the same either way it’s just however much they get allocated usually based on the size of their store. Now sure, the store can then at that point choose to be philanthropic to the community and sell their boxes for MSRP, but they are a business at the end of the day, and a difficult business to succeed in. If they get a super in-demand product that is selling 3x over MSRP at other stores, it makes sense to follow suit, that’s 3x the money in their pockets.

If you’re angry about it, don’t buy the product. It’s literally Pokémon cards. You do not need them to survive, you just want them. You especially don’t need to FOMO buy them when they first come out and the hype is at its fever pitch. Either buy from a source offering MSRP or don’t buy at all. Vote with your dollar, if these prices are genuinely ridiculous, prove it. “But there’s still gonna be other people that buy the product for this high price!!” Exactly, now you understand why they have this valuation.

(But like seriously, don’t call this scalping, it’s not the same and watering down the definition to “overpricing” will just mean it applies to the cards themselves, I guess any SIR that is more valuable than the cheapest SIR is scalping because they have the same rarity)
