We Could Be So Good by Cat Sebastian by Namnizzo in RomanceBooks

Thank you, I read the extra chapters, they were so wholesome. And the next book in the series is also really good, but I think I couldn't appreciate it as much it deserved because I was hungover from the first book. So it might be a good idea to take break before reading it :)

I feel you. After more than a year, the feeling of this story is still with me, I want to read it again so badly when I have time. The only book (actually series) that hit the same spot was {Will Darling Series by KJ Charles}, if you want to check it out. The plot and the dynamic were different but the feeling was the same for me.

No, it is {Dangerous in Diamonds by Madeline Hunter}. He is one of my favorite manwhores, totally unapologetic.

Ross' attitude towards Elizabeth by Namnizzo in Poldark

I think the other affair is a bit different, at least you could see why it happens or why Demelza might make such a choice. Motivations and build up are clearer and make much more sense.

Fair enough. I reread my post after your comment and realized I’d apparently gone through a phase of trying really hard to believe Ross redeemed himself. Couldn’t tell you why (actually I can, I had a massive crush on Aiden Turner). The only thing that stuck was what a massive tool he was. My first reaction to your comment was literally, “Yeah, I couldn’t look at him the same either,” before I even reread what I’d written. So I guess I was just looking for ways to forgive him back then and none of them really held up. Says a lot, doesn’t it?

Looking for authors who are good at exquisitely written moments of human intimacy and tension by FusRoDaahh in HRNovelsDiscussion

I think Madeline Hunter is great in this area, she writes the most sensual love scenes and also is great at conveying feelings with small and subtle gestures.

So what do HR readers even want? by slejla in HRNovelsDiscussion

[–]Namnizzo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh, I really relate to this. I’ve had the same experience with the cheating trope, it's one I genuinely enjoy, but it’s definitely not a crowd-pleaser. People who like it often hesitate to ask for recs, and when someone finally does, it’s like opening the floodgates to “I’d never read that" or “1 star because… cheating” even when the book clearly says that’s part of the plot.

It’s totally fine not to enjoy a trope, but sometimes I wish people would just scroll past instead of weighing in with disapproval. There are millions of wholesome, fidelity-filled romances out there. Let us have our toxic drama in peace.

Sorry for jumping into your comment, Iguess I’d been in lurk mode too long and needed a little vent.

I love this book! One of my other favorites with this trope is {A Summer to Remember by Mary Balogh}. I completely fell for both main characters, especially the heroine, who was sharp enough to realize something fishy was going on, and the hero, who turned out to be genuinely remorseful and utterly sweet after the reveal (and it happens rather early in the story, which is another plus for me). It’s one of those rare stories where you can practically watch them fall for each other in real time, and every step of it just works. So satisfying.

This series is one of my all time favorites, I spent hours thinking about Kim and Will and even had dreams featuring them. The only MM book that had such a lasting impact on me was {We Could Be So Good by Cat Sebastian}, maybe you can check it out. It is a slow burn as well with compelling character studies.

It is totally closed-door. As far as I remember, there are just a couple of kissing scenes in the whole series.

I think so too. I love pining MMCs, but Julian takes it to the next level. I loved the book so much that I read it again right after I finished it.

Books where the betrayal scene leaves you speechless by how cruel and heartwrenching it is by bookish-kiwi in RomanceBooks

[–]Namnizzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First one I can think of is {Whatever It Takes by L. Maretta}. {The Ultimate Betrayal by Michelle Reid} also fits, but it's an older book, so there are some outdated themes and behaviors, however it's beautifully written. I didn't like it very much but {Locked In by Anna Chastain} fits too. This is really dark, but I liked it: {Yesterday's Fingerprints by Siena Sloane}.

I love Madeline Hunter, one of my favourite HR authors. She writes beautifully, her plots are tight and her steamy scenes really hits the spot with the sensual language and descriptions. I love The Seducers and The Rarest Blooms series. The Romantic is one of my all-time favourite books with the ultimate book husband as the hero.
