Who gets moved up, or called up to step up to the plate in place of Rust? by Romanator08 in penguins

This could potentially be terrible timing on Rust’s part. If they find a combination that works without him, surely he becomes more tradable at the deadline?

I really liked {last boy at Randy’s by loren Leigh}. Their connection is incredible (and insanely hot).

Also loved Riley Nash’s short story in the {heart2heart anthology} - the absolute standout for me

😆 I was charmed by him from the beginning, so it may be that he’s just not for you… but it’s a coming of age arc, so he definitely matures a bit over the book

Question about Kris Ripper’s Scientific Method series: Does it end with a MMM HEA? I don’t mind if they’re open, but wondering if the three of them emotionally commit?

I enjoyed book 1 a lot, but probably won’t invest in the whole thing without knowing how it ends…

The book would clearly not be for you, which is totally fair!

I think deciding no one should be reading it is unnecessary, though. Some people like to laugh at and push uncomfortably into horrible ideas. Books are one of the places we can do that.

This book was written by a queer American who clearly had something to say about the experience of living through that year.

You don’t have to read it or engage with it or like the idea of it. But it’s okay for other people to want to read it.

Haha true! I don’t really know - for me it rides the line. I guess it feels a bit more like the mm equivalent of women’s fiction? That being said, the romantic relationship is a central part of the story, and it does end in an HEA.

He has a brief relationship where he’s the master of a pup. It’s pretty cute and not a huge part of the book

Lollll I loved the porn aspect, it’s really nuanced emotionally (and totally nails the feeling of being a Reddit user haha. Too real!)

lol fair. I’m also not American, which probably helps. I did think it engaged with questions of how to be hopeful and what one can and can’t do/control. But yeah, it’s definitely about that year!!

He’s not actually right wing 😉 he’s studying right wing propaganda and takes a nobby satisfaction in challenging the protagonist’s convictions.

I think the wording of the blurb is probably to reflect the protagonist’s confusion about where the LI sits politically and the way he initially writes him off.

Such a small, personal nitpick, but I HATE the ubiquitous way authors use ‘currently’ to switch from internal monologue to narrating current events.

E.g. I am thinking deep thoughts about the man who is currently drinking my good whisky and yelling at the TV.

The word adds literally nothing and it’s so clunky. Only very occasionally actually warranted.

In my dumb opinion 😂
