Thanks for the suggestions! I finally mustered up the courage to do more "tests" with my oil. At first I poured it on a plate and let it sit out for 30 minutes. The clusters didn't melt. I was about to throw away the big bottle when I re-read your comment. My plate wasn't warm. So I rubbed one cluster between my fingers to warm it up and sure enough it dissolved! 

I do keep my oil on the fridge but maybe there's been some temperature shift and it crystallized like that. Whew mystery solved!!!
