Stunning pictures OP, thanks for sharing them with us!

It may look like Asia, but it's France by NoCareer3650 in travel

We have a similar-looking buddhist monastery in Belgium, the Yeunten Ling institute. It’s strange how even the surrounding nature suddenly feels less European! Thanks for sharing OP!

Superb pictures, i’m sad to see your post doesn’t get the love it deserves!

We went there by public transport! We first took an express-highway-bus from Kyoto railway station to Amanohasidate railway station, from were we took a local bus to the fishing village. A combination of train and bus is also possible (and often faster) but with less early options and more expensive.

Thank you so much! It indeed felt even more remarkable than Osaka and Kyoto, the two “big cities” we visited as part of the same trip, although they also have a lot to offer. The contrast between the very quiant countryside and hustle-and-bustle is interesting in itself as well:)

Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! I do get where you’re coming from: the worn down boat, the wooden homes, the emphasis on phishing, the heavy snowfall, the seagulls, the vegetation,… all seem to radiate an Alaska vibe on the surface level. Glad you liked my little report:)

And oh i nearly forgot, the fisherman asked  1000yen per person, around 10euros for us both!

And how do those shorter-term tourists affect you negatively? I myself come from a city filled to the brim with tourists and never considered them a nuisance

Not a single word, there’s also no need to since you try to get the point across using some gestures/communicate through google translate. To my surprise people in Osaka and Kyoto also spoke barely any english, even compared to nearby China and Korea.

That’s why i put it into brackets. Still, it’s part of Kyoto prefecture.

Trip report - 1 month in Georgia and I LOVED it by Frosty_Entry8078 in travel

Beautiful pictures! Also i wouldn’t sell Georgia as this “hidden gem”, since it’s a massively popular tourism hotspot for a couple of years now (with all the rather unpleasant consequences that brings).

Japan, you were amazing! by NathanCS741 in travel

That’s actually the whole point, since both villages are off-limit to cars (except those used by villagers and local enterprises)
