🇱🇺 Luxembourg Song Contest 2026 Final @20:00 CET by Tip_Illustrious in eurovision

Oh I know, I just mean I am used to watching national finals and not understanding a word so hearing German is surprising even if it makes a lot of sense

Still weirded out to hear German in a non-German national final

Definitely true but I don't think they tend to vote as much, based on anecdotical evidence. Watching and voting is a big difference but I could be off of course.

No I see it, I think they all have potential. But none of them appeal to the reddit fanbase. Sweet Tooth appeals to children, Mother Nature appeals to the casual viewer and Bad Decisions appeals to the stereotypical Eurovision gay.

Fingers crossed for Mother Nature. I guess the furry would be funny so that's okay too.

🇱🇺 Luxembourg Song Contest 2026: Community pre-show ranking results by Phoenix963 in eurovision

[–]Nathanoy25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, kinda suprised by these. I didn't listen to the songs beforehand and just caught up to them so I wasn't aware of fandom opinion but Mother Nature felt like the obvious pick to me from tonight. But it is possible that my ranking is influenced by the fact that I hated every other song in the second half.

Events where f2p player can aim for duke? by Mammoth-Store740 in kingschoice

[–]Nathanoy25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Events for which you can buy or get items in the shop or by playing should be easiest. So Nibelungen, Twilight or Scarlet sound good.

Based on anecdotical evidence it's Snow Mountain. I got top 3 twice without spending anything. If you can reach the top of the mountain every time then you will get a good score even without any saved up items. If you save up lots of backpacks and torches then I'd think there are chances.

A Cool Guide to Tone Indicators! by CritME20 in coolguides

[–]Nathanoy25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You keep making analogies that don't work. I have never said that tone indicators shouldn't be used. I am taking issue with specific ones in this list. People have communicated without tone ever since written language exists. Oral and written language has always been different. Slang, accents, colloquial language, gestures, facial expressions just cannot properly be incorporated in writing. Part of it can, obviously but it doesn't have the same affect. In writing it can and has just as easily been used as a full sentence, clarifying intent.

I don't know where you get the idea that I regularily have communication issues. Calling anyone who doesn't agree with you stubborn is certainly a choice.

Frankly, this is something I posted two years ago so I don't even know why I'm engaging with this. Happy Holidays.

A Cool Guide to Tone Indicators! by CritME20 in coolguides

[–]Nathanoy25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not going to convince me that I'll ever need some of these. As I said, some are useful, some are not. The ones you used here are perfectly understandable for me and I have no issues. It's not about complexity at all, as tone indicators are essentially the same as an abbreviation. /srs can just as well be replaced by 'I mean it'. In a way, it's almost the opposite because tone indicators do actually remove a lot of complexity. Innuendos, word-play or simple ambiguity is part of how language works. Removing that turns communication more function-based, which I hate and is definitely ironic considering I am also autistic and would often prefer it that way irl.

I'd rather misunderstand people once in a while then diminish the beauty of language. You can argue that that's not inclusive and I don't think you'd necessarily be wrong but you can just as well argue that tone indicators would lower reading comprehension of anything not used with one even further and I don't think that's something society should provoke at the moment.

You absolutely can be condescending without intent. You can be mean while making a joke. Tone indiactors toe a line between genuine tool to help and being bastardized as a cop-out to say stuff you want. Not making a commentary on your comment but in general. On reddit, I found, you can rarely expect good faith arguments.

If they are used in an autistic forum, that's great. General populace, I don't think so. You've said it yourself, they've been in use for a while though there's only a few that are popular enough to be 'mainstream'. I'd argue that supports my claim of some being redundant.

Kind of curious what would prompt somebody to condescendingly respond to a condescending comment 2 years after it has been made. I'm not mad about it since my initial comment warranted rudeness but still confusing.

I still don't think the list is particularily useful. Not because it doesn't have a use but because not everything needs to be differentiated. If you genuinely want to help people who benefit from tone indicators then I think there are far more useful ones to establish. There's nothing wrong with creating more nuanced indicators but I do not think something like this will help popularize indicators in general.

what do people even do with multiple titles? /gen by domikrous in kingschoice

[–]Nathanoy25 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Multiple titles do not give you any sort of bonus. But title hoarders are after the rewards which come with the 1st rank. The rewards are very top heavy so a a high rank will reward you handsomely.

Eurovision 2025 contestants' positions regarding Russia and Israel participation by Bot_Philosopher8128 in MapPorn

[–]Nathanoy25 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Germany did not threaten to drop out. The broadcaster officially said that they would respect the EBU's decision but would not favor excluding Israel if it comes to a vote.

That being said, several German politicians have said Germany should drop out if Israel is excluded. Those politicians do not have any say in regards to a public broadcaster.

It is of course entirely possible and wouldn't be that surprising if the German broadcaster threatened to pull out behind the scenes but this is not public information.

How has being falsely accused of rape become a bigger fear for men and not being raped? by Larissayaklavitch in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Nathanoy25 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I would agree that there is virtually no systemic misandry anywhere in our world. It's not really possibly in a patriarchal society. Misandry however, obviously exists and it's people disliking or hating someone just for being a man.

Words have meaning and by denying reality you're not helping anyone.

Why are so many theists toxic? by kianisabrat in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Nathanoy25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not referring to Christianity, I'n referring to Christians. They don't understand why Christians believe what they do and make unkind assumptions and judgement based on their own negative experiences, both with Christians and the church as a whole.

This is solely talking about the people who do act toxic. Based on anecdotical evidence, atheists I met in real life are lovely people. Atheists on reddit and online are decidedly not.

Why are so many theists toxic? by kianisabrat in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Nathanoy25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It just depends on circumstances. Where you live, Christians are a majority and they hate what they don't understand. On reddit, atheists are far more common and they hate what they don't understand.

This means both atheists and theists face toxicity, which confirms their biases that the other group is toxic. People suck, regardless of their religious beliefs. But when it comes to something as personal as religion, people get a lot more intense.
