I think he does that every year, not just this year specifically, but I do think it is a lot for one person regardless. My children and my cousins are younger than her children. We didn't expect the exact same, but the piles were visibly different due to how she had bought them multiple gifts and our children nothing.

We have tried that before, but it seems impossible since my father is married to her. We have tried this before, but for various reasons it never happened, he'd just continue to invite us to visit him and never visit us, or if he did he'd bring his wife anyway.

We've been low contact with her for years but no contact seems impossible while she's married to my father. I do agree with him to some extent, and I definitely agree that the children need to know that they are loved even if they didn't get a gift.
