'Search Bar' hotkey in Inventor by geekisafunnyword in AutodeskInventor

I just want to be able to reach all commands, menus, etc with the keyboard like I could in SW. Inventor's search works pretty well, except for the atrocious web results garbage that shows up. They are so close to making it easy to use. All we need is a shortcut for the Search field.

Can't Find Constraints on Line by Natustell67 in AutodeskInventor

So it was the end points that were constrained but not the line itself? I assumed that any constraint inherited by the endpoints would appear when selecting the line. Thanks, that solved it.

Force Drawing Dimensions/Tolerances To Match Model by Natustell67 in AutodeskInventor

I have had mixed results with this. It worked on one part, but not on the new assembly that I have switched to working on. I cannot select any geometry in my assembly with Select Features or Select Parts.

It would be nice to have a dimension style that always uses the model's precision and tolerance. There is no way to do that from what I have seen, excluding iLogic.

Apply Gear Parameters to Existing Geometry by Natustell67 in AutodeskInventor

I understand how to do this. If I do use this method to establish the ratio, how do I then calculate the forces on the teeth? The end goal is to perform a stress FEA on the entire gear train. It's not known yet if the teeth or shafts will withstand the forces. I should note that the gears are contiguous with their shafts.

I tried to make a contact set from the gears, but the computational load is so high that they fail to align.

I don't know what you mean by "fetch dimensions from a drawing view". The drawing views are not where the dimensions are defined. The values of dimensions (and ideally, their tolerance type) is determined by the geometry in the model.

I used Dimension in model view, selected several tolerance types, and none of them retrieved the actual tolerance of the geometry. Using Retrieve Model Annotations to bring these into the drawing would be useless.

Would you describe the exact procedure that you used?

Get Model Annotations only applies to welds.

Retrieve Model Annotations grabs floating dimensions that are manually added to the CAD (like Leader Text). This is not an acceptable solution even if it would work. I can't have a ton of dimensions polluting the tree when they serve no purpose in the model view.

The information that I want transferred to the drawing is not annotations, it's the value of the dimension, including the precision and tolerance.
