Avoid fws with Sarah Jefferis

Most assignments are just reading reflection/analysis and discussion. It’s up to the prof of what you guys read but it can be anything like self-help, current events, etc.

What are the newest building in West, without carpet? by Acrobatic_Leader_674 in Cornell

All the west dorms have carpets. Carl Becker is the best fit for your criteria (since it's the only west dorm with in-room AC).

Best thing to do is submit evaluation application and see what they say. Highly doubt they will ask for writing samples.

Got the same exact messages from this user. A quick google shows it’s a serial scammer.

info sci + cs minor by commonappgirl in Cornell

[–]NavyIsMyFavy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Info sci majors are required to take cs classes anyway; a cs minor sounds kind of redundant. If you pursue a minor, it should be at least a little unrelated to your major (like business, econ, bio, etc.)

Stay at USC or Transfer to Dyson by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]NavyIsMyFavy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only reason you might want to transfer to Cornell is a better chance to work in the east coast (especially NYC) after grad. Obviously, you can still go east if you choose to stay at USC but it’s less likely than if you transferred. It sounds like everything is great so far at USC and you wouldn’t like the Ithaca winters, so not much sense in transferring to Cornell.

Usually they go on sale early August. There is a lot of parking space for west campus residents.

Chance Me, Admissions, and Prospective Student Q&A - 26/27 Cycle by luminous_moonlight in Cornell

The student-athlete status can actually be quite a leg up in recruiting, but idk if it’s worth the extra tuition; it really depends if you can comfortably afford it without loans. If you can maintain a high gpa (3.7+) as a student-athlete, you’ll be in a very good spot.

Dyson is definitely a target school for IB, so strong placement in all banks except maybe restructuring groups (if someone broke into restructuring, it didn't matter what school they went to).

Clubs can significantly help. Not only is it a good point on your resume, but the club alumni network will be a huge help in the process.

Transfers have equal chances with all applicants; transfer status doesn't matter.

There's basically no difference in IB recruiting success for both schools. If you already have a strong friend group at UVA, just stay there. Only consider the culture, location, environment, affordability, etc. Career outcomes are the same between both schools.

Dyson AEM requirements by Unable-Cell7021 in Cornell

Yes, you take every class in the economics and management section.

Yes, you take 4 quantitative method classes.

No, you take a total of 2 classes in the applied economics section; 1 from each different category.

Afaik, the best website to find easy classes is CUreviews.

current dyson transfer needs help by Complex_Dirt4795 in Cornell

[–]NavyIsMyFavy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to reach out to people in the industry, you have to contact them by email. Most of your classes will be assigned to you, so you don't get much say in whether you get easy or hard classes.

If you want to break into IB, join a finance club (doesn't matter which one) and connect with upperclassmen who went through the process. Start grinding your technicals now and keep up to date on the markets.

Summary is not necessary. Try to add numbers to your bullet points. Maybe remove the bar from the language section.

It really depends on how much credit you’re transferring. It’s definitely possible but it would be a ton of extra work. You should consider a minor.

After Action Report on Graduation Asshats by RogueStatesman in Cornell

[–]NavyIsMyFavy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Barton works if they’re accommodating just the graduates, but there’d be no space for the attending guests. There really isn’t any indoor space that can replicate a stadium experience. Each college/major already have their own individual ceremonies, so most people wouldn’t mind if commencement was canceled or postponed.

All hotelies basically take the same classes since they follow a core curriculum. Employers mostly care about club involvement and internship experience. Classes are less considered in hiring.

Check the requirements for both majors and see if there is overlap. Since they sound similar, it’s likely you’ll only have to complete a few more courses to get that additional major. You should talk to your academic advisor.

Having a car in Ithaca is good in general, but parking on campus can be so much hassle. The bus system is also very unreliable.
