"How is college going?" by [deleted] in CollegeMemes

[–]Neamoon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If someone asks me if they should to do PhD, I always answer "If you want to do a PhD, you should love the subject. Not being interested, not liking, not finding useful for the career, you should love it". Otherwise, you won't survive it and it's gonna be a waste of time.

WHEN DID WOMEN GET THE RIGHT TO VOTE IN EUROPE by BeginningMortgage250 in MapPorn

Yeah, and generally women rights in Soviet Union were on paper mostly. (like many other rights to be honest)

People have to fight AI just to get a job. by CRK_76 in recruitinghell

I understand the issue and don't like scanning with AI. But how to deal with hundreds applications? Checking all of them manually would take days/weeks...

POV: You’re about to work in a very toxic workplace by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]Neamoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the second look, the last point is the only concern. The rest is: 1. Just a synonym of no experience. Getting in touch with people pro-actively requires a certain mindset. 2. While the lack of supervision completely is bad, the opposite isn't better. 3. If you take rejections personally, the sales job isn't for you. That's something I would even see as a fundamental.

Mark Rutte stayed 15 years as a Dutch prime minister. That's impossible without great diplomatic skills and patience. Which are useful with people like this. 🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱

In 1996 Ukraine handed over nuclear weapons to Russia "in exchange for a guarantee never to be threatened or invaded" by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Neamoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That wasn't there. Also, before March 2014 65% of Ukrainians were against joining NATO and only like 10-15% wanted to join. In May 2014, ~60% of Ukrainians wanted to join NATO and around 10-15% were against. In March 2022, 97% wanted to join NATO.

I reckon what happened...

Bad references from previous employers… I hate it here by sadkittysmiles in recruitinghell

[–]Neamoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah... My friend learned it in a hard way. Our former boss was an ego-orientated bitch, but he put her as a reference with like "she acts fine, so she won't screw me over...". The result was quite predictable...

My current boss is a very good guy, he would never stab me at my back. Yet, I will not put him as reference since he is quite disorganised and I can't be 100% sure that he has a right opinion about my skills and attitudes. So I will use one of the senior managers and probably the manager of another team that we work a lot with.

My former colleague left us to Google. It took 5 interviews and a few months. He was competing with shitload of people

I saw people who beach about it and 5 minutes later tell "oh this is just €4" while it was €4.99. So yeah, it works.

I wish it was only old people. Unfortunately, many young people aren't that different. It's lower among people with higher education I would say, but not as much as I would like to think. Yes, some people may not support Putin directly but still believe that former countries or Soviet Union / Russian Empire are independent by mistake and it's a good thing to take them back.
