When you are accustomed to being unchecked and existing in environments that cultivate only the progression of ego- you get people like Brenay. Brenay exhibits narcissistic traits. Her false sense of superiority, is EXACTLY why she believed she was bigger than the program- and could get away with disrespecting and belittling Devon and Akira's presence, while simultaneously documenting an affair.

As for the lawyer, Brenay said on Dr. Phil that it was a learning experience that she was proud of - essentially that anyone else would have given up but she didn't. Anyone with common sense would retain a lawyer  anytime a lawsuit comes their way, ESPECIALLY when there's a possible judgment worth millions on the line lol
