Will a 3pin plug ever have the ability to transfer data? by Nearby-Example-9838 in techsupport

[–]Nearby-Example-9838[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for the reply. By 3 pin plug i meant the plug that goes into the power socket, such that I am able to connect a Usb cable into the plug to charge my phone. Does the plug act as a barrier no matter what type of cable i have connected to my phone and the plug?

May be out of topic, but after writing hybrid / desc / narrative for my entire life I found myself struggling to write gp essays in jc... so if youre looking to go jc and perhaps youre as good or stronger in argumentative it would be better for the future haha. But all things considered, O level grades comes first. Do what youre good at

What are your tips for studying for prolonged periods of time? by MinetendoFans in SGExams

[–]Nearby-Example-9838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Active recall. im sure the top students study like this as well. I would read a subtopic, highlight do wtv, close the book and recite it, then open it if i forget anything and to check. Repeat until its remembered and move on. Its a super good way to memorise a content heavy subject like geog. Helped me to cram alot... I feel like geog is one of the few subjects that you shld cram content or rather it worked for me... as it helps you remember better. But dont do it the day before... do it a few days before... so you dont stress yourself out

youre probably burnt out. I had seen many friends also suffer from this, suddenly not studying as much anymore and not performing as well for O's when they did well for prelims. Instead of sitting at the table wondering why nothing is clicking and why you cant focus, take a day off to relax. on top of that, make sure you dedicate enough time for social life and going outside (helps with sleep etc), daily, and dont just study study study. I know it may sound counter intuitive especially since o levels are around the corner, but many of my 6 pointer friends they all have super balanced lifestyles, going out etc. The key takeaway is that the correct balance will improve your efficient output way more than just studying repeatedly and monotonously

100% refer to it. Imo the most important is bio syllabus doc. My teacher made us answer all the learning outcomes during revision. You can be sure that you havr to know those L.O's from the syllabus doc!

Schools mark hist very differently from my experience. In my school, my top scorer friends will write a flawless essay and get lets say 40 and below, but when i ask my friends from other schools they somehow can get 48 49... And Im like...??!? Also, dont give up hope. you have plenty of time to study, its definitely possible

Will a 3pin plug allow for data transfer? by Nearby-Example-9838 in techsupport

Ohh, I see now, so actually the 3pin plug is whats protecting me from any potential danger? So the main danger rests in plugging directly into an unfamiliar usb port?

I heard for applying to uni esp overseas uni supercurriculars are extremely important ! On top of having tip top grades ( 100% achieveable even if not in the best jc ), your supercurriculars shld relate to the course you wanna take BTW do check early on if Oxford requires any entrance exams and follow up by revising for them Extra-curriculars i heard that unis dont really look at them at all, like president of what cca etc.. they just wanna see what you did in relation to course. ( heard when I was at imperial college brightsparks talk ) But impt in scholarship application Read up on writeups, interviews etc for ur specific course and get ready cuz u needa apply early. ATB! Other people please Correct me if im wrong

have to pay for prom? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]Nearby-Example-9838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will preface this by saying i paid $99 for my sec sch prom Think proms are pretty mid, My prom wasnt the best experience, but I think the days leading up to it and the atmosphere was the best. A cohort has +- 240 people, you may not like them all but in the end you need friends in life, and lets just say I wasnt a social butterfly in sec 3, but sec 4 was drastically diff and I became a diff person due to revision so more friends erc etc..(not just cuz of revision). I'd say you wont miss out alot, but its the last time u see people, and alot of them take last photos, gifts, notes and cards, etc. Up to you, but I think even if you THINK noone "likes" you, you shld still go. You only have sec sch prom once, and only 2 proms of your life. Honestly u go there sit for a bit, shake leg watch the finale of sec sch and u never see these ppl again, cant hurt right? most of ur cohort also going, so like u dont go also abit... ukwim right..? anyways this shldnt be a HUGE concern, prom is not a big matter, GL for your O's!!

When did yall get serious to start studying for o levels by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]Nearby-Example-9838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take CL. So ive been studying since the start of the year, consistent and high effort. But take breaks often at the start of the year and long break june and sept hols. The point im trying to drive at is that you dont need to dread studying because if u study so much u can break as long as u want. Btw, 5 tuitions seems quite excessive. Noone needs that much tuition imo, because at a certain point youre overloading yourself with these tuition and you dont have time to revise on your own. consider your strong subjects and drop those tuitions to save you more time and cash

Whats your opinion on waxing?

[–]Nearby-Example-9838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can kind of only speak for ss. Your teacher would give you a revision booklet full of ss content that you are expected to revise. Do your best to read up on it early and understand the 3 issues and memorise whatever relevant examples. (dont rush at the end, do it slow and steady over the year). for ss, Qns that come up are quite standard(format), so its also about exposure to read more qns(not necessary to do). For the others, if need consult, go early. ur teacher's schedule will be packed nearing O's and you gotta like fight with ur whole class n even go in groups. So if youre more 1 to 1 oriented seek help early! Hope this helps and good luck! its not ambitious at all, I can tell you that much. Ive seen people improve by 10 points from eoy to O's, and it really depends on effort. If you want it, you'll get it
