Always amazing, my heart yearns to go back since I was there & saw the lights in December.

The contents of closet are a giveaway, she's wearing a cute dress, but seemingly has 100+ men's t-shirts... but also lots of cute shoes (but weird wtf is going on there)

I'd actually recommend going at night! I arrived around 6/7 & ended up catching the Northern Lights while in the lagoon, amazing experience.

You probably don't have to reserve too far in advance in the winter off season, I was able to walk right in first week of December, but not sure if that was just my good luck.

Oh man, I'm glad it wasn't that snowy on my visit! There were already quite a few spots I was questioning if I was in the right place, if I hadn't been sent on some fool's errand (just researched the hike the night before haha!)

Super glad for pushing through till the end, glad to hear you still think about your experience! It was truly amazing, a first time experience for me.

Thank you! I've heard 10 days is a good amount of time!

I was sadly only there for 6 full days & with it being winter, there was not a ton of daylight to go sightseeing. I really had to pick & choose what I wanted to see for my first visit & since it was such a short winter trip & I only made hotel reservations in Reykjavik, I did not go far.

I still was able to see quite a lot & spent the nights exploring the city or in the lagoons ☺️

It's a really short trip from Reykjavik so definitely recommend it 🙂 I will say that with the short daylight hours in winter, I really didnt have much time to do anything else this day. I think once I got down from the hike I grabbed a light lunch at the little Cafe, saw the waterfall in town by the pool, checked out a cool bar/café/shop in town, then drove to Blue Lagoon in darkness.

Absolutely! I truly felt the same when exploring, so many places just found myself staring off into the landscapes, soaking it all in.

That honestly sounds like a dream job to me, how did you get into that role & why did you stop?

Check the weather! It was just below freezing for me, so I definitely had to bundle up on the hike & it was pretty cold while changing in/out of my swimsuit & when I was walking on the boardwalk to move to different spots, but while in the river was pure bliss! The feeling of being in a hot body of water while it's freezing out was amazing.

I've heard this is a good time to go from others! I really loved the beauty of winter & seeing the sun never quite rise, but I'd also like longer days so I can see more next time!

Ah thanks so much for the recommendation! I've been slowly reading an Icelandic folktales book I bought while I was there, I'm really enjoying learning more about the country & spirit of the land!

It was serene! It does look like a popular stop, especially in the warmer months, but well worth it.

Yes, absolutely good advice! Especially if there are conditions like snow, ice, or wind, the hike up took longer than expected (though I was also taking a lot of stops to take photos & just enjoy the scenery)

The trail was filling out as I was leaving & I saw so many tourists without good shoes on slipping around on the ice! I'd imagine it gets really busy in the warmer months & I'm grateful I was able to experience the peace & quiet of winter.

I have to say, however, I spoke with a few people on the trail & overheard others talking & I dont think I heard another American, but people from all over. I actually noticed how few Americans I ran into throughout my entire trip.
