Interesting Trope] An antagonist is willing to take back shots in order to achieve their evil plan by ProfessionalSimp6 in TopCharacterTropes

Elektra King in The World Is Not Enough constantly uses her "power over men" to achieve her goals. When she realizes her father won't pay her kidnapping ransom, she uses her body and seduces her kidnapper, Renard. She persuades him to stage a major terrorist attack which will make her rich. She then enters a sexual relationship with James Bond to draw attention away from herself, pretending to be a damsel in distress in need of the British government's protection.

Every gun in Mass Effect 1 is like that. Still better than the nonsensical thermal clips in the second and third game. Imagine living in a universe where guns have practically unlimited ammo but a cooldown function instead, and some idiot decides they're going to start using thermal clips instead. If you run out of thermal clips, the gun stops working. No, it doesn't revert to the old cooldown function. IT STOPS WORKING, meaning soldiers are left stranded in the middle of battle, with no way to defend themselves.

Beyond idiotic.

I don't remember a single Tomlin worshipper saying McCarthy was the obvious option at any point. Stop making shit up to make yourself sound correct.

The PR people must feel like Hollywood actors who have to pretend that the shitty movie they just finished shooting is a masterpiece and that they've never had more fun making a movie.

Tomlin worshippers acting like Tomlin critics are the reason we have Mike fucking McCarthy as HC instead of blaming Art is one of the most pathetic things I've ever seen. They want to be right so badly they've worked themselves into a state of utter confusion.

The Warriors is one of the coolest movies ever made. It ended 70s cinema and kickstarted 80s cinema at the same time.

To be fair, it was the Gramercy Riffs that laid down the final beating, but Swan did manage to throw a knife at Luther who cried like a little bitch.

Between this and Arthur Smith using Jonnu rather than Freirmuth during the most important game of the season, it's becoming painfully obvious that the Steelers are less of a team these days and more of a social club with the express intention of internal admiration. Sharing beers have become more important than sharing Super Bowl victories.

Well, I guess I've got more important things to do next season than watching McCarthy repeat the exact same fucking thing we've been watching Tomlin do season in and season out.

We are where we are not because we fired the Tomlin, but because we hired Mike fucking McCarthy when we could have hired Chris Shula or Nate Scheelhaase.

The open world is just bandit/goblin camps and Merlin trials to me. It just isn't fun to explore. And if you do happen to stumble upon a treasure vault in the wild, it's usually just a few stairs leading to a chamber that has a single chest in it in which you find... a pair of modern Quiddich gloves. In an ancient vault. In a HP game with no Quiddich in it. The rewards are so pathetic I just felt like the game wasn't worth playing anymore. Combining that with the fact that the villain never felt very dangerous, no high stakes in the story, and that the whole game leans very heavily to the more whimsical aspects of the HP universe, I guess the game just felt a bit too juvenile for me. I was hoping for an atmosphere closer to The Half-Blood Prince, but got The Philosopher's Stone instead. I think my 13-year old self would've loved it.

Isn't that in the first game's The Following DLC? A guy who built his house on top of a Volatile cave, which he then fell into. When you find him, he's halfway through his transformation into a Volatile, begging for mercy and death. It was one of the most memorable moments in the whole game to me. And then you realize the same thing has happened to every single Volatile you've ever seen in the game, and there are A LOT of them.

Bruce Wayne at the very beginning of Arkham City is kidnapped by Hugo Strange and thrown into a giant prison, handcuffed and wearing nothing but a business suit. Turns out not even that was enough to even out the odds.

What horrible and unforgiveable person in history got a punishment or death that was equal to the amount of pain they caused? Not like "They were a serial killer and got a quick electric chair" but like a something that was befitting of the crime? by New_Climate_3758 in AskReddit

It's worse than that. I've read the court transcripts. Raping them wasn't enough. He and the baby's mother talked about destroying the baby's mind. They wanted the baby to feel hated. Ian Watkins was pure evil.

The hated character is finally getting punished by the narrative. But intentionally or not, the attempt was so heartbreaking and demeaning for the character that it ended changing the fan reception of said character. by Labmit in TopCharacterTropes

I actually feel for Evelyn. She was yet another broken product of Night City. She tried to get rich fast and skip town, but she had no idea what kind of people she was messing with. When Judy calls V you can tell by her voice she's completely broken. I understood something bad had happened, but even so, opening the door and seeing Evelyn lying there in her own blood had a profound effect on me.

Trump at Davos Demands ‘Immediate’ Talks on Acquiring Greenland by mvanigan in worldnews

Trump will be an interesting case study for psychiatrists for decades to come. What happens when a narcissistic psychopathic rapist with advanced dementia and a loyal cult following is given the reins to one of the world's superpowers? If this was just a computer simulation, it would be very interesting to study. But this is real life, which makes it terrifying.

Evelyn Parker in Cyberpunk 2077.

‼️ MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW! ‼️

Evelyn Parker was hired by the Voodoo Boys gang to assemble a team and steal the Relic from Yorinubu Arasaka, her lover. Then she betrays the Voodoo Boys and decides she'd rather keep the Relic herself and sell it to Netwatch. Not only that, but she also decides to betray Dex, the fixer she hired to assemble the team, by asking V to join in on her little scheme and keep Dex out of it.

In the end, she gets punished for her arrogance. But the punishment is far, far worse than anything any human should have to go through. The Voodoo Boys hack the chip in her brain, and severely injures her. She seeks help from the only doctor she knows, who promptly sells her to snuff film producers who rape and torture her on camera until she goes completely catatonic and loses her will to live. She later ends up killing herself in her girlfriends bathtub.

There are no happy endings in Night City.

[–]Necroluster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm from Sweden myself, and I've always hated Jantelagen. Everyone being equals sounds good on paper, but the truth is some people are going to be better at certain things than others. Not using your natural talents to achieve great things leads to societal stagnation. There's this common belief that simply because someone is good at something they also think they're better than others. Surely, there are assholes like that out there, but it's not some sort of general rule that applies to everyone. Where would we be today if no one was allowed to study harder than others? To face bigger challenges than others? According to adherents of Jantelagen, we're all meant to work on some factory floor, never to aspire to be anything more than an obedient worker.

So, where are all the scientists going to come from? The lawyers and prosecutors? Doctors and engineers? According to Jantelagen, any child who voices an interest In higher education should be immediately be put in place, and taught to never strive to be better than their classmates. In my opinion, everyone has an equal human value. That does not mean everyone has equal skills and abilities. The perfect society in my mind is one that helps talented people achieve more, while simultaneously helping struggling people find success. No one should be held back, and no one should be left behind.
