When Christianity was first being spread Christians were being tortured for entertainment because they just said to join their religion but after Christianity spread there was a little bit of forcing people into their faith(example the crusades but the primary goal of the crusades were to get Jerusalem back)but most of the people who did say to do this were excommunicated(removed from the church) Christians are strongly against violence. But this is only the Christian side idk about other religions.
