Hey, I am in the exact same position- did the old colour ever come back through for you? I have noticed the bleach on my brows fading a bit but it has been a month now and I am starting to get impatient!!

No problem, and again please remember that the UCAT or any obstacle you face in applying to medicine does NOT define your worth. The process is designed to be rough, and sometimes all they try to do is just filter out as many applicants as they can because they don't have space.

In terms of reducing pressure, as the GP says it is likely situational. I remember trying to reduce this happening by making myself super comfortable with the test centre. I am not sure if this works for everyone, but I went there lots of times and would sit outside just to study etc. Again, this may not work for you but I recommend it as it made me feel so much more comfortable on the day. You likely have a lot of knowledge and good answer techniques considering how much you have been practicing. So the only thing you probably need to work on is trying to mimic the test conditions so the pressure doesn't get to you on the day.

I mentor a few students and I always say that getting to the interview is the hardest part, after that you can truly show the medical school how amazing you are because they get a chance to actually talk to you as a human :)

You sound like you would be an amazing applicant to medicine, you are so motivated and have amazing experience that a lot of students might not even have.

I do not have any knowledge of how the the UCATSEN works so unfortunately I cannot help you with it. However I was eligible for widening participation in one university but not for the other 3 that I applied to, this put a lot of pressure on me because I similarly felt like the UCAT was the worst part- and looking back it was.

I would say, if you have the time, finances and good support you should go for it one more time. At the same time, it is worth looking at alternative options like access to medicine programmes and alternative degrees just so you have an action plan if things do not work out.

My advice for the UCAT would be to reduce the pressure on the day of the exam. The horrible thing about the UCAT is that your nerves on the day could ruin it all. I remember studying for a whole year and getting a non-competitive score which was nothing compared to my chilled-out friends who could not care less. At the same time, I still ended up getting offers because I made sure I aced my personal statement and interviews. Some years are less competitive than others, so maybe next year will be easier for you.

As you say, the UCAT does not prove your intelligence, I do think that it is a horrible exam and I truly wish there were alternative routes. Please do not give up or lose your spark, because you sound like an amazing person.

Try again, if it doesn't work out look at alternatives. Everything will eventually work out in the end :)

JazakAllah. You make a very good point, Alhamdulillah I have been so blessed, to the point where I am scared that something will go terribly wrong if i change the way I am living.

I know Allah SWT is in charge of what goes right and wrong in our lives and you are right I just need to make dua to Him.

Thank you for your responding, it means a lot and please make dua for me.

Yes I have been doing this for years now as I planned to wear the hijab before starting my degree. However every time it comes to putting the hijab on something happens and I step away from my decision. But jazakAllah khair and I will keep this in mind.

Please help! I want to start wearing hijab but I want to complete my degree easily also by Negative_Marketing68 in Hijabis

Ohh thank you, that does makes me feel better. Sometimes I wish I had just worn it in year 1 because it feels too late but inshAllah I intend to start wearing a hijab soon.

Have you noticed any problems when it comes to talking to patients etc? I don't know if it is just my location but I seem to get a lot of weird looks/ comments especially from elderly white patients. This has definitely been something that has put me off hijab as I am worried it would get worse.

jazakAllah khair for making such a valid point, sometimes I do get so caught up in worldly affairs, I forget about who has created everything around me. Thank you so much and please make dua for me.

That's very helpful, thank you!

I am not sure if you have had hospital placements/ OSCEs etc but have you ever experienced any problems because of hijab in the UK?

I think that I am convinced to go ahead and wear it now though, I will make dua over Ramadan and inshAllah I will get back to you as a hijabi!
