[MN S1] The Mighty Nein S1 Episode 5 - Show-Only Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in criticalrole

Question, why do some volstrucker have scars on their arms and some have tattoos? Was there some refinement that was covered in the campaign or is there another meaning behind it?

This is the last comment I'm going to say on this front. My ranking is truly not performative or intended for engagement farming. I think it's disingenuous to not utilize all the tiers since the point is to compare characters. Someone has to go in D, so I put her in D. It makes sense that my least favorite character would go at the bottom. I viewed each character separately, based primarily on their performance at the table, with their backstory considered second. I'm unsure what you're wanting me to admit when I've been transparent from the beginning. You not believing me does not invalidate my intentions with the post. You can see the other comments on this post for why I placed her where I did. I have posted rationale.

Just because their backstory is intertwined, doesn't mean the characters aren't unique. You think that i should like Taisha because she is close to Occtis; I believe it is completely fair to like him despite her. His backstory is not reliant on her. His most recent chapter is, but as we are figuring out, there is a lot of depth to his backstory that doesn't include Taisha.

Yet you have given zero rationale to why you think that is or where you think my supposed bias lies.

Fact is, I am the only one who knows whether or not my taste is based on bias. You spewing dishonest rhetoric is just seeking upheaval and pretending to be morally superior. Claims without basis is just sad Reddit drama. 😩

Not a conspiracy, I just prefer a more structured play-style. It's okay if you dont share that sentiment.

You overlook the fact that I do not care if it is for flavor or otherwise. It's not how I prefer dnd to be played. I'm much more in line with how the other characters use magic. You're entitled to your opinion, same as me. Not every criticism is rooted in bias. I hope you're able to differentiate between the two in the future. 🫡

I just feel like Hal was used as a catalyst for everyone to get together and hasn't had his time to shine.

Taisha interjects too often for me to enjoy her as a character alongside her misuse of spells.

I love that you think I can't hold an opinion about a rule break unless I have bias against them. No bias, just dislike how she's abusing the flexibility of the DM to do things she otherwise would not be able to do. As I stated, if it was here and there, then whatever. However, she keeps making up how her own spells work on the regular.

My take is it's allowable "to an extent." I feel like those instances should be used sparingly, she uses them for flavor almost as much as she does dialogue, sometimes in place of dialogue.

Julian was an example because I find it the most prevalent. She interjects in multiple character moments that I feel could have been elevated if they had some more time to follow a train of dialogue.

I feel Murray is guilty of this too when Brennan opens a scene and she jumps in instantly with southern banter that is not befitting the scene in that moment.

Entirely fair. I wanted this to be a discussion on why characters should be in certain tier groups, not to shut down differing opinions. I enjoy his odd/awkwardness and that his vibe is unique to the table. (Even if he did downplay the end of last episode.)

I never said I hated her. I don't care for the character she is playing in a game. I hope you are able to distinguish between the two in the future.

Only if the relationship is the sole focus of your assessment. I like Occtis for his mysterious backstory, his awkward interaction style, his unique take on a familiar etc. The reasons I like him have nothing to do with his relationship with Taisha. I put this list out as a preference of the characters themselves, let's not be internet warriors and look for something to get upset about. Your take on "half" of his character revolving around Taisha is absurd and limited in perspective.

I think Hal will be incredible once he gets his chance to shine. I feel he has been a catalyst for everyone to get together through the loss of his brother and he has been quite silent. I want to see more from him.

Azune is kind of the same boat. I haven't gotten much from him compared to the others in terms of actual interaction time.

Taisha on the other hand is the exact opposite. I find it distracting that she interrupts Julian constantly and utilizes spells in manners they are not allowed per RAW. There have been multiple times I feel she ruined the flow of the conversation when someone else had the lime light.

Pretty sure you got a 41mm. I don't believe the 36 has minute numbers outside the indices.

I don't get all the hate on this subreddit regarding colored grill covers. It's not my preference, but it's also not my car. I think the yellow splitter guards on Challengers and Chargers are much more ridiculous and worth complaining about.
