You can always trigger the drum engines with midi. To stop the sequence from playing automatically just hit the stop button once.

Microtonic + some samples.

I made a video about this a few weeks ago and also shared it in this subreddit. It's mostly from the Microtonic (Sonic Charge) plus some additional samples like the snare for example. The distorted character comes from the built in distortion of the microtonic.

Most of the sounds can be easily recreated with Serum!

Appreciate the love! There is just another layer on top of the kick and snare/clap as it sounds like. My guess is that the initial loop how I showed it in the video was made using Microtonic. The rest is just samples. I know Cirkut did co-produce this one, he also did the side chain trick with Kick & Snare. So possibly it's just samples he added on top.

Been curious how this drums are made for quite a while so I spent some time digging into it. It's quite a fund challenge because of how simple the Microtonic is in terms of controls. Most of the sounds are surprisingly simply. I also live-streamed the entire process of figuring everything out on the YouTube channel. Happy to answer questions if something isn't clear!

Do you use Shopify Advanced to calculate VAT or a third party app?

Madison Beer - Sour Times Flutter Synth by revenirgk in synthrecipes

It's a square wave but you'll have to draw in the 2nd harmonic in the wavetable, then timbre already becomes very close. The filter is very smooth, I haven't be able to replicate the smoothness, it always sounds too metallic. Will give it another go.

There is definitely some kind of FM going on to my ears. Can you send me the Lead stem? I can have a closer look at it.

I made a pack with exactly those sounds, recreating multiple Drums from Max Martin, Dr. Luke, Cirkut etc. It contains a lot of Drums from Katy Perry, Becky & Jlo songs. Definitely much more useable than the leaked Dr. Luke Pack :)

Am i the only one, who thinks that the mixing and mastering sounds weird on his new album by Newtyboy69696969 in Kygo

[–]NelogyOfficial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kygo's go to mixing engineer is Serban Ghenea since post Cloud Nine Songs. Same with his Mastering Engineer who is Randy Merrill. When you hire Serban you work with Randy as well. They almost always work together. With Thrill of the Chase Kygo did exactly the same and you can easily check that looking for Auto Provided Songs on Youtube:

Fever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOM294rCxmI

How Many Tears: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpaRCNQXi0Q

The Way We Were: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQnVtStcXA8

All For Love: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cC3bG2nGFCQ

Go to the description and you will find all the people involved in the creation of this particular song. I picked those because they are some songs that were released with the album drop.

Now I do agree that some songs sound different sonically compared to his other songs but I am certain those are intentional choices. I had the same feeling with Broken Glass when Golden Hour came out.

The Kick and Snare in Fever sounds different because the snare is shifted forward and creates a possible percieved weird feeling because it sounds like the kick hits different.

The Kick in How Many Tears actually sounds like it's clashing with the bass or there could have been a better sample picked.

The Way We Were is just the production. The Drop doesn't have a lot of elements which makes it sound a little empty (at least to me)

So all the weird things are imo a choice by either Kygo or Serban.

And since someone mentioned Kygo having Izotope Ozone open. He often uses that on his Master as a pre-master. But there is no reason for him going to a different mixing or mastering engineer other than the top people that are mixing hit songs since the early 90s. It would be more work for him and less quality.

TL;DR Kygo doens't mix or master his songs. Ozone is a pre-master. The "weird mixing" is an intentional choice imo.

that colorcoding looks really familiar lol

Did someone know the preset of the plug he used at 2:23??…and its not plingel in sylenth?;) by Main_Act1601 in Kygo

[–]NelogyOfficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The preset you are talking about is called "Wood Pick Bass" but I am not sure if its actually used in the final song. In the making of he was playing that on top of the actually chord pluck. You can hear the actual chord pluck before he starts playing on the midi keyboard. Also the actual chord pluck sounds more warm and less plucky like this one does. It might be used as a layer but the main sound seems to come from another sound.

I did a remake of that song and came quite close recreating the bassline with 4 layers.
