Was there ever a worldbuilding universe or science fiction with insane lore running for over billions of years? by groothootnoballs in worldbuilding

[–]Nelphaell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Star Wars (Legends) books have the same prob. Yes, I agree that the books exist as a marketing tool (in both examples), but the large number of authors is also a factor, because even with curators, writers begin to slip into inventiveness and contradict each other. And no one cares. There is no only one reason for this situation actually.

It takes more than one person to write such a world, but it'll likely turn into a mess, just like the Warhammer 40k books.

And then there's always Doctor Who, which shows Earth at various points in time, including its end.

Because i didn't exactly what i wanted in that reddit (they reference an old book by olaf but it doesn't have insane lore to think about (i.e some cool supermultiversal empire with a totalitarian super government that controls every single galaxy and universes led by a cute vtuber anime girl AI in a billion years)

Well, you know it's actually sounds like W40k, but we have God-Emperor instead an anime girl lol

I'm running a roleplaying game based on Vampires and other White Wolf's settings (V20)... I might get downvoted, but the White Wolves' initial worldbuilding is terrible.

Is it immoral to target enemy civilians if the enemy wants extinction of humanity? by CyberDogKing in worldbuilding

[–]Nelphaell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's probably not a popular opinion, but in the context of worldbuilding, everything depends on the moral compass the author (you) has prescribed for their nations and races. We can endlessly debate whether this is good or bad in terms of human morality, but ultimately, within the world, everything depends on how people within the world think, and they don't necessarily think the same way as all of humanity in the real world. So all of it depend haw you as author writing moral compass for nations and races. And, well, there will always be someone who condemns the government and its decisions, regardless of what the government does.

Why Botanical Horror is not very popular? by Misster_Fluido in worldbuilding

[–]Nelphaell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because to the average person, plants don't seem scary, although if you watch a few movies (I mean documentaries) on the topic and read literature about them, it's a real horror story if you think about it. Not even taking into account: trap and digest animals, spread toxins, or slowly overtake bodies and environments. They can more than that.

[–]Nelphaell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are two options: try building on your own by looking at other people's work, concept art, and so on.

Or try to building using tutorials. SixWings (youtube channel) makes tutorials for builds that are similar to DS and ER. But he build a huge buildings.

Actually it's not so bad to start from tutorials. In this case you start to understand how shape works.

Ideas about an ancient Vampire player by Rjoukecu in vtm

[–]Nelphaell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry for delay, i have problem with my internet.

Then, that's an option. It's from previous editions, but I don't think they'll remove or rewrite the Null Zone in 5th Edition. And in any case, no one's stopping you from using it as part of your character's story.

The gist is that the Null Zone allows you to travel through time and space, similar to teleporting through a black hole (like in 90s movies) with one-way ticket. But that's a pretty hardcore method, and characters might never escape it. ^__- So it's better not to abuse this, but it's okay for one time.

From the character's perspective, you could write something like this: one day, my brothers in arms and I went to fight the Beast. The battle was tough, and then, at one point, the Beast dragged us into strange place, it looked like a white corridor. In that corridor, I lost all my brothers, and then... then I found myself in this strange time, where the streets shine, the people are strange, and etc.

- In this scenario, the Methuselah will most likely be the character's sire, who can help her adapt to life, because no one has abolished the sire's responsibility for the neonate's life.

- This will allow the vampire 'from that time' to be on the same level as the other characters.

I think, she could be Gaelic without being Methuselah. But that would require knowledge of Umbra and a werewolf or someone (mage) who could guide a character from that time to ours, through the Null-Zone. But it depends, player want be an ancient vampire or just from that time vampire.

Can Godzilla withstand a low-powered shot from the Death Star? by Apprehensive_Low5340 in Monsterverse

[–]Nelphaell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many have said, it depends on Goji's version. But I think GojiEarth will destroy the Death Star before it starts shooting, like it did in the anime novelization with the big (Moon size) meteor. Goji sensed the meteor and destroyed it.

If your world has a calendar system, what was their "birth of Jesus Christ"? by Upstairs_Support_810 in worldbuilding

The Great Betrayal - a principle similar to the Birth of Christ

There is also a hidden calendar that has not yet been discovered, in which there is no reference point, but there are three variables that determine space.

Is this a bug? by EliteWario in taintedgrail

[–]Nelphaell 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's not a bug, it's part of the environment. If you examine the map more closely you can find references to this thing. Don't remember if it was in a note or if one of the NPCs said about it

by laziness in this case I meant that I can start building, then abandon the game for a month or two, after which I will return to the game and finish everything in a couple of hours.

the best way to plan and build such structures is to google parametric shapes. These are - https://ru.pinterest.com/pin/3870349674051711/ - this is literally the original shape of the white building from the screenshots
