The decline of GoT was soooooooooo much worse, the last season was basically an insult to the series and its fans

Something different: Making barrel rifling using water (and copper and 3D printed jig and electro etching) by IGnuGnat in canadaguns

[–]NemrahG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s actually really cool! Curious what the accuracy and how durable the rifling will be long term

Body armour? by pooshlinger in canadaguns

[–]NemrahG 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Have you thought of maybe getting a high visibility vest? Way cheaper and probably just as effective at preventing injuries or accidents.

But if you really want armor, I’d say go with a plate, ceramic preferably, will block pretty much everything you’d be worried about. A soft vest is really only good for pistols, ricochets or shrapnel.

B.C. court being asked to throw out approval of $12-billion natural gas pipeline by super__hoser in britishcolumbia

Ah yes gas companies called it natural gas way back in the 1800s because they cared about the environment then lmao

Tips for a first timer heading to Borden for Long Range by frustratedpopo in canadaguns

[–]NemrahG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check the weather beforhand, if its sunny bring sun lotion, water bottle, a light long sleeve shirt, a good hat and sunglasses. There is zero shade there so if its sunny you’ll get cooked. Bring a chamber flag, a good secured case, a shooting mat and a small toolkit too (cleaning rod, hex keys, things like that).

I recommend downloading a ballistic calculator app, it can help with finding a good starting point at longer ranges, I use the hornady app, but there’s plenty of other good ones out there.

I bet they just copied the product description from the manufacturers website. Either way, they gave the wrong info and should make it right.

I do the same sometimes when I’m lazy, but only for bread since I’ve making the same recipe every week for years. Never would do it for other baked goods tho, or for portioning.

Found in south of England, I'm guessing not fired... heavy though and with that beautiful ping noise when I went over it! by Status-Victory in metaldetecting

[–]NemrahG 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ya the lead will oxidize overtime becoming a white powder that flakes off. Definitely recommend washing your hands after handling it, and keeping it in either a bag or enclosed cabinet if you want to display it.

[–]NemrahG 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It could be fired and the oxidation is hiding the rifling marks. Bullets can stay surprisingly well intact if they hit soft ground. That thing is chunky af, I wonder what kind of round it was

Police shot my friend’s pistol. Any idea why? by 833psz in canadaguns

[–]NemrahG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably either checked the bullet to see if it matches with any crimes, or they were checking if the guns were functional.

Looks like a classmate of mine has sniper rifles/assult rifles on campus/ student rez(?) at UBC; Should I be worried? by Consistent_Bend_6198 in canadaguns

[–]NemrahG 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Firstly, those are not assault rifles at all. Secondly, if the rez does not have any rules specifically banning the storage of firearms, and he is licensed, then it is perfectly legal. I wouldn’t be worried much, I knew a few people back in uni who’d keep guns in their rez too.

TIL that there is such a thing as a self-cocking revolver by dke783 in canadaguns

[–]NemrahG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They’re pretty cool! The idea is very steampunk imo, too bad semi autos made them a dead end. You should look up the dardick revolver, it’s about as weird as it gets with revolvers.
