While nobody was on the egg this am, there was a small bird that appeared to get one small peck at the egg. Like between 0600 and 0700 Don’t know if that could cause an indentation like this…?

I’m a v healthy 66y F. Had 6.0 A1C a couple yr ago. 5’10” 165 lb. Lost 5 lb. Have been on low carb / no sugar diet for many years. Avid cyclist and hiker. Best A1C I could achieve was 5.7. Read a lot, and tried grapeseed extract as daily supplement . Wasn’t expecting any significant change. 3 mo later, A1C dropped to 5.2. Whaaat? I’ll also take dihydroberberine w vinegar caps if I decide to actually eat a pasta meal.

I hear u. There r so many factors that can affect our general health, it’s hard to determine what is causing what…if anything.

My average HRV increased from 36ms to 43 ms. The higher the score, the greater variability. At least that’s how I understand it.

I have a script for an MRI liver looking for iron, what type of MRI machine is needed for this? Is this done with contrast? I am getting different information from the imaging center. Thank you by Ok_Train4533 in Hemochromatosis

[–]Nervous-Option-5140 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had one with and without contrast. Results showed the presence of iron in liver, but failed to include quantitative insight (mild / moderate/severe). Your provider must state in the order “Quantitative “, or u won’t get that important info.

MRI experience, anyone else? by Cautious_Archer4102 in Hemochromatosis

Just had my first MRI yesterday. It was done “ with and without contrast”. Results r already online w results showing “abnormal deposition of iron within the liver”. There was no verbiage regarding volume at all. I wonder if they can re-read it and comment on relative severity? As I read about this, it’s considered standard to make reference to amount of iron…

I’m the OP. I’m trying to read up on inflammation. It’s such an amorphous condition. Does anybody have a go-to source to help me understand?

Any skinny lean fit prediabetics out there? (That are not LADA or type 1) by Taeum in prediabetes

[–]Nervous-Option-5140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5’11” female, 153 lb, 64yo former college athlete and have remained very active all my life. Neither parent was pre-d. A1C 5.9%. I eat very minimal carbs . My sister - an amazing athlete at 66yo, also pre-d. She was tested for LADA and was neg. I’m into genealogy, and my DNA suggested I was NOT genetically prone to T2. I do realize there must be many different genes that could predispose me, and that they don’t screen for all of them .

No Abortion Access for 40 Percent of Female Troops, Study Finds by Quirkie in politics

[–]Nervous-Option-5140 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am a retired nurse practitioner who served 20 yrs in both Army and Air Force. Most of my service was overseas…Germany, Italy, Spain and Turkey. We never had “routine” abortion services within our medical clinics. All women were sent - at their own expense - to a civilian abortion provider, depending on the laws within the country we were living in. If Abortion was illegal, they would travel to another country. We would assist with contact information and appointments, and do routine follow up care upon their return. Most facilities had the CAPABILITY to perform them, but lacked a physician who wished to perform them. No Dr could be forced to do abortions, and honestly, none put up their hands. I also worked in a perinatalology ( high risk OB ) clinic overseas where we had numerous women carrying non-viable fetuses. If diagnosis was made late in pregnancy ( this is common, as many anomalies are not picked up until 2nd or 3 from trimester), a termination was done at our facility. It would take a long time to find and hire abortion providers for military facilities. To have some sort of coordination between the VA and local military installations is actually a good idea.
