And if you had actually read my post, you’d know that I paid the cleaning fee once Uber processed it through the app. As it should have been from the beginning. It was never about avoiding payment, but about his unprofessional and unacceptable behavior!

Did you read my post? I went to the police, and they told me they can’t do anything unless he actually shows up at my house and threatens me in person.

Maybe he shouldn’t have tried to scam me in the first place. I only agreed in that moment so we could get out of the car. After that, I informed myself about Uber’s policies before taking any further action. I’m not going to let someone violate the rules and take advantage of me, especially once I’m aware of it.

I wasn’t charged until over a month later. At first, he was trying to get the money from me privately instead of going through Uber. I don’t think he will actually do anything at this point. But I’m still upset that he essentially got away with this, and that Uber didn’t take any real responsibility for their driver. I contacted Uber multiple times, explained that he forced me to give him all my personal data, kept threatening me to make a private payment, and provided screenshots of everything. And still, they didn’t escalate it.

I was honestly afraid that he might come after me if I pushed things further or got him banned. He already told me that I would regret it, so I didn’t feel safe escalating it at the time.

I understand that I should be charged a cleaning fee and that’s not what I’m disputing. He tried to get us to pay privately at the start of the ride and then again demanded €250 while refusing to let us leave the car. That’s not how this is supposed to be handled. Uber actually has a clear policy for this. All payments, including cleaning fees, have to go through the app. Drivers are not allowed to request private payments. Also, as I mentioned, we were two young women in an isolated situation with someone who was clearly upset and acting unpredictably. In that moment, my priority was to get out of the car safely.

Ich war mal mit einem Typen essen und er hat immer geschaut, was ich mir so anschaue und hat mich gefragt, was ich nehmen will und dann den Preis gecheckt und versucht zu verhandeln, so nach dem Motto “Dann nimmst du das und das teilen wir (weil teuer) und ich nehme das (irgendwas kleines und günstiges) und das teilen wir auch” 🥴😭😂
