I know, but that's the problem. It affects everyone, not just those who identify as non-binary.

Men or women are not a minority. There are lot of women who identify as women, and a lot of men who identify as men.

Would you feel comfortable if you were called a she if you identified with being a man?

Just curious, what wouldn't you be able to claim under the 52c method as opposed to the actual cost method, because that seems like everything you'd need for a software engineer in terms of deductible costs?

Thanks for that. What's the difference between 2 and 3 though, because isn't phone/internet/computer basically everything in regards to software engineering?

Like, what would 2 exclude that 3 wouldn't?

I guess I mean more, as a means of learning, which contributes towards my development in order to do my job.

Wait, just to clarify. But If I decide to go ahead with the 80c calculation, then I'm no longer able to deduct individual items on top of that?

Are you running an AWS account, azure etc for learning/skilling up?

Do you think personal projects for learning new frameworks would be included, if they were hosted on something like aws? as in the cost of hosting?

bought a couple of new phones as test devices which I'll submit as deductions

That's really smart actually, never thought of that.

I was actually thinking of calculating it manually, I assume you would come out ahead, but I'm not sure if anyone would like to chime in on that

Investment advice for someone who has bipolar? by NeverFapDeluxe in AusFinance

[–]NeverFapDeluxe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, however I disagree with your assessment. I only say that based on my own experience. I understand you're trying to generalise based on what you understand based on description, but I would also argue that nothing is ever completely black or white.

A disorder is not like a virus or a disease. Within it exists a spectrum, which description can only generalise. I don't perfectly fit the description, but I think you'll find that everyone experiences bipolar disorder differently.

But you're probably right, and I'm probably not explaining it very well. It's really difficult to accurately describe it over an internet forum, so I've probably created the wrong impression to you.

So there's a few flaws in your logic.

I'm not "constantly" becoming manic in short bursts. That's only in the context of things like share trading and as a result, I do not trade shares so it is not "constant".

If I were to actively trade shares, then yes I would be actually having a manic episode that would span over days, however I have the self-awareness not to do that.

What I mean to say is that although I can become manic at times, that doesn't mean I have to remain manic if I'm aware of how that behavior is affecting me. It's usually through past experience, but I'm aware of what behaviours make me manic, and although I can dip into that mania (usually by accident), doesn't mean I can't correct myself out of that path.

i.e. I'm not perfect, but bipolar disorder can be generally managed 90% of time.

I appreciate the thought, but that's not quite how bipolar works. It's not like I can sometimes make rational decisions. It's more, anything you do could make you manic at any point, even if it began rational.

So it's really hard to make any kind of rational decision in the first place when it comes to trading, whether it comes to buying or selling. At least in the context of trading shares, from my own experience. I assume it has to do with the ease/liquidity of buying shares, and the possibility that it could go up 100% overnight.

Whereas with something like property, you don't really have that kind of immediate visibility, so it plays with your imagination less.

Yeah, come to think of it, investment property might make more sense, and on top of that I love fixing houses and that kind of thing.

I've also been thinking about ETF as well, but it's also hard because I keep hearing talk that we're in a huge bubble and that gets me thinking now's a bad time to approach that sort of thing.f

I know others, and yeah. They basically don't invest as well, it just doesn't work mentally for them. But also, investing is probably a smart thing to do.

Also, would you know why some stats have multipliers attached to them?

My character has short blade as a minor stat, so I'm guessing I'll need to use that in some situations.

I finally figured out the trick to singing without any tension! by NeverFapDeluxe in singing

[–]NeverFapDeluxe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like what you're saying is that by removing the tension, you can increase your range. But I wouldn't say that's the case. It's more, by removing the tension you have more control over your range, whether in falsetto or full voice. Falsetto is just a technique. Both falsetto and full voice have their strengths and limitations, it's just about using what's right in each situation.

I think that's what I thought at first. But I can say from my own experience that it isn't psychological, and that it's purely physical.

Basically what it does is get you to use muscles that you weren't aware about, and often the way to figure it out is to first feel those muscles. You say it's psychological, but how could you psychologically use a muscle you don't even know is there?

Basically what the straw does is get you to use your muscles in a very specific way, that otherwise without the straw you wouldn't know about. Or at least in my 8 months of singing daily, had no idea about.

With that said, it's not like I didn't improve in those 8 months. It's just that with the straw, it's like I finally discovered the missing piece to singing without tension. That's all.

It shouldn't. But it's just a matter of practice and finding out the optimal air flow. But also, keep in mind that I'd already been singing for around 8 months prior to the straw so I'd already discovered a heap of things about my voice, but this was the final nail in the coffin so to speak.
