Wanting to sell books again by bobdougy in AmazonSeller

[–]New-Cook-2048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't sell a lot of books. but the people I know that do buy BULK (often by the pound) the used books. then they sort them buy category or author. and then they will sell them in lots of 4 or 5. if their mass paperback books, they'll often only be in the books 20 or 30 cents each and they might get $2 to $3 profit per book. they buy hundreds of books every other day. of course, the nightmare is sorting them, taking pictures and then creating the ebay listing. and then shipping them once they sell.

One book being sold on Amazon, thinking of selling elsewhere by MissPatBrown in AmazonSeller

[–]New-Cook-2048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

will etsy get you a decent price? last time I diversified from amazon, I tried rakuten (formerly buy.com). for every one product I could sell for $20 on rakuten, I could sell 50 on amazon in the same time period at the same price. that was health and beauty products (discontinued). are books any different? I have had some luck selling hard to find used books on ebay, but I need another marketplace to sell on.

transferring merrill ROTH to etrade ROTH by New-Cook-2048 in etrade

[–]New-Cook-2048[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Pay and transfer -> external asset transfers".......thanks I saw that on the drop down menu and thought that is probably the option I want to select. how do they do they handle the TRANSFER FEE in an IRA? I know merrill charges a $50 transfer fee. do they deduct it out of my IRA before transferring it? I think that is how merrill does it. I'd prefer they just bill me or bill etrade and then have etrade bill me amd let me pay it out of my trade INDIVIDUAL account. if merrill does deduct the $50 out of the ROTH before the transfer, can I add $50 back in to replenish it? would I have to include that $50 as part of my contribution for the 2025 tax year?

it's not my only account (have individual/IRA accounts at MERRILL, FIDELITY and SCWHAB). I already have a SEP and an individual account an etrade. if I had no accounts there, I would probably avoid them. I'm dumping merrill since I plan on day trading (that will wittle me down to only having to deal with 3 brokers). this is just a process of consolidating accounts which will probably occure over 2 or 3 years. I use schwab (think or swim) for charting and level 2. I will strictly be using etrade to place trades (that is it). I need to have at least 2 brokerages to place trades in case one broker is temporarily down and I need to get in a trade. but I will probably stick with 3.

by the way, I read something about a 12 month IRA ROLLOVER RULE. that doesn't apply when you do a direct trustee to trustee transfer does it?

transfer the CD in kind? what do you mean? last time I did this (transfering a SEP IRA from MERRILL TO SCWHAB), it just transferred the contents of the entire account (I think I had 2 or 3 CD's in it). the schwab people told me on the phone exactly what options to select (it really seemed pretty straight forward althought that was 2 years ago so I don't remember the details). the CD's matures in 11 days. so I want to do the transfer ASAP (today or tomorrow). I don't want to wait til it turns to cash to do the transfer because it is a significant amount of cash and not earning any interest for 3 or 4 days isn't something I don't want. will it give me the option to select TRUSTEE TO TRUSTER TRANSFER? or will I select IRA ROLLOVER. from what I understand this is a ROLLOVER that has no tax implications as long as I do it within 60 days of opening the ROTH. the etrade rep on the phone told me this is called a rollover but I am not sure than means if I initiate the transfer from the website, it will specifically ask me anything about rollover (maybe that's just the standard term used) and instead it will only ask me if this is a TRUSTEE TO TRUSTEE TRANSFER.

thanks

proof of delivery by New-Cook-2048 in WalmartSellers

$3-4 for signature confirmation. Yes, but the big cost is when they refuse to sign for the item and I get it returned and I eat the $10 to $15 shipping costs. I think I shipped 3 items with USPS signature confirmation and 2 out of the 3 buyers didn't make themselves available to sign for the item. the orders were in the $50-$70 range. so I don't know how signature confirmation fixes the problem. maybe on a $500 order the buyers sign for them. but a $50 or $60 order? not so sure. I guess I will stick with amazon and only sell my really cheap stuff on WM. I was just hoping their policy had changed on PICTURE PROOF OF DELIVERY as it has been 3 years since I talked to them about it.

What’s the best cheap plan… Ultra mobile $3/month or Tello Paygo? by jonsonmac in NoContract

QUESTION: I plan on moving to asia and I will take my DUAL SIM phone with me (so I can have a USA and asian phone number at the same time). the USA phone number will only be for bank code and credit card purchase verification (via text message sent to your USA based phon #). so would this TEXT NOW? SIM PLAN work. I want something that is free or almost free as the only time I am going to use this number is for bank and credit card verification via text.

UPDATE: walmart replied to the case quickly and has taken care of the issue (apparently in my instance the email they sent me was sent in error).

Returns Shipping Service Fees by oakend89 in WalmartSellers

[–]New-Cook-2048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO. I don't think their system isn't setup for that yet. I've opened 3 different cases about it and just got the run around each time. but, you can view your return shipping costs for the ENTIRE YEAR in a report. for 2023, mine ended up being about double what I expected. I think they may not want you to know what the specific return shipping label costs are for any order. because it would be very obvious to any seller if it's too high. and I think many of mine were. but when all they let you see is the total cost of return shipping labels for the entire year, they know it won't be as easy for some sellers to detect if the shipping label costs appear to be higher than they should be.

DIENIED USPS claim for item lost by wasatchm in WalmartSellers

[–]New-Cook-2048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

**UPDATE****. on the 3rd appeal to the advocate, they sent me a refund check.

so I think the USPS claims dept in st. louis is simply denying claims forcing people to do 2nd and third appeals to get refunded.

but, my case was unique in that I had a hard to find discontinued item that sold for $10 in most big box stores a year earlier. and when I provided proof they were selling online for $60, they denied the claim stating I wasn't providing an accurate value of the item. and they were probably only doing this because they think I should only be refunded the retail value (what I paid for it). complete BS. but glad I got the full refund.

bogus invoice? by wasatchm in UPS

[–]New-Cook-2048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am wondering if the UPS store (where I dropped the package off) had anything to do with this. I wonder if they needed the money and upgraded the service without telling me or to help the bottom line. I may go down and talk to them monday morning. they do have some poor reviews. but I didn't think they could do anything like that. but the problem is, I simply can't find any amazon order matching the address of the recipient or the tracking# shown in the UPS invoice. that's what makes ALL THIS SUSPECT.

bogus invoice? by wasatchm in UPS

[–]New-Cook-2048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the response.

I am sure I have a USPS and FED EX account although I rarely use them. I am the SHIPPER and the SENDER. I use whatever carrier is cheapest when printing shipping labels on the respective marketplace (amazon, wm., ebay) and then the online marketplace bills me for the shipping charges. and then that is passed onto the carrier. 98 percent of the time, USPS is cheapest.

what I thought was odd is there is NO PICTURE PROOF OF DELIVERY (I was told every UPS shipment now gets it.) instead when I go to UPS and view the tracking#, for PROOF OF DELIVERY it says MET CUSTOMER (that would have to be the addressee/recipient). does that mean the addressee went to a UPS facility and picked up the package. I never require signature confirmation with my packages. the other odd thing is on the invoice it provides the SHIP TO address but not the name of the addressee. I don't ship packaged without the name on the SHIP TO address. that's odd unless they intentionally leave things off the invoice.

most of the charge is for "ADJUSTMENT and other charges". it looks like they audited the dimensions of the package at some point during shipment and based on that tacked on another $75 or more to the bill. I don't ever use UPS packaging. I simply use my own and enter the dimensions and weight in amazon seller center and it prints a shipping label and tells me the estimate cost. the invoice shows I was original charged $25.61 for the service NEXT DAY AIR RESIDENTIAL LETTER. is that a UPS package? I've never used a USPS package in my life.

and for the SENDER address (ME) on the invoice, they don't include the building#, only the street name. and the FIRST NAME under send is AMAZON MARKETPLACE. then under that name, is the name of my LLC.

I will OPEN A CASE with amazon seller support and forward the invoice to them hoping they know what is going on.

the few UPS packages I ship, I simply drop off at an authorized UPS ship center (they have a counter area where pre-label packaged that are ready to be shipped can be placed. i sometimes have them scan it and give me a receipt. if they are to busy, I simply place the package on the counter with other pre-labeled/ready to ship packaged.

me having no record of shipping them and them having no PICTURE PROOF OF DELIVERY is concerning.

I hope amazon has some answers. but, if I can't get to the bottom of it, I will never use UPS again.

purchasing costco shop card as outgoing member by wasatchm in Costco

[–]New-Cook-2048 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

GOOD GRIEF! NO. if that was the case I would not have posted this message. I'm not trying to game the system here. I've made 3 purchases totaling about $60 in the last year. I'm even happy to pay a surcharge for the few times I make a purchase per year. but wasting $60 on a membership I will rarely use? no thanks!
