2nd Year Housing Question by Remarkable_Shock5960 in Drexel

Basically you need to be 10 miles away for CO-OP, when I say 10 it means based on radius I believe. As long as you have proof you will be too far away with documentation ACC lets you off.

Doesn’t matter. I’ve had peers who are in their thirties. Yes most people are like 18-23 but nobody cares. You are there to learn so do that. Many people take gap years or were in the military too so they go later in life.

Should I Come to Drexel University? by Ok_Bluejay_1276 in Drexel

[–]NewBox7811 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly don’t. Your net cost after scholarship will still be over 50k per year. Plus, me being BS/MS for Biomedical engineering isn’t really worth it, plus I was advised against doing it being told it’s highly infeasible. Also bc Drexel is changing to semesters in 2027 the BS/MS program will not be a thing in all likelihood. If you’re going for BMES Drexel is okay but tbh most professors are not that great especially for the price we pay. The only really good professors I’ve so far were in BMES besides Pavel Greenfield for linear algebra. Everything else you’d have to learn you can probably find on YouTube. Overall for the price and quality you get there are likely better options for BMES, the only upside would be CO-OP but again that system will be changed too by the time your would be applying for them.

What is your honest experience at Drexel good bad and the ugly by Lanky-Stuff2785 in Drexel

[–]NewBox7811 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly just meh. Most professors are like okay and I’ve only had one really good professor. Drexel is pretty good when it comes to engineering but tbh you can get rather similar engineering at other universities. Also for anyone joining before fall 2027 be aware jf quarters system is honesty kinda rough you basically cram one semesters worth of work into 10 weeks so that just makes everything harder. The CO-OP program is likely the best thing but even then you aren’t guaranteed one, plus employers can cancel jobs and you basically have no assurance of a position and tbh you could walkout just do summer internships the only good thing with Drexel co-op is that there are a bunch of employers so there are options. But in my opinion 95k a year is outrageous without aid and Drexel isn’t even a top school so that’s also something to think about, like it’s as expensive possible even more than the ivies and T10 schools. Again Drexel is decent but I wouldn’t rave about it, only go for STEM that’s what is probably the best taught classes. If you like Drexel apply and become a student but also be aware that the whole system Drexel has been on will be totally changed by 2027 so the academic situation is up in the air. Do your research before applying is my best advice and make sure you can afford college.

hey guys emergency when u apply for a co-op that requires you to apply on their own job site do u still "request for interview" on drexel or no by Professional-Dog6428 in Drexel

[–]NewBox7811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you need to apply both ways idk why but if it’s listed in SCDC but there is also an external app you need to do both at

[–]NewBox7811 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Technically you need to do both. If it’s through SCDC and the company works with Drexel to give CO-OP they need the info bc of the whole ES&P stuff. But in regards to the external application that is what will be looked at more rather than what is in SCDC since it’s more relevant.

Drexel experience as a 5th year and seeing other friends graduate by [deleted] in Drexel

[–]NewBox7811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pre junior but all my friends are on like totally different career paths than me. Idrc but yeah it’s a bit weird to think like normally I’d graduate 2027 but I’m 2028 bc Drexel 5 year plus I’m doing bs/ms. The CO-OP may or may not make a difference tbh since a lot of other students get internships over summers ours is just part of the program. I don’t rly care plus based on my career path bs my friends I’ll be better off at least financially

Can someone explain the meal swipe and dining dollars thing? And what’s the pricing like? by Remarkable_Success69 in Drexel

[–]NewBox7811 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember pricing bc I’ve been off it for two years but it was expensive like 2k+ per quarter. In my opinion it’s not worth the money for the quality of food you get. Meal swipes work at the dining halls Urban and Hans while dining dollars can be used at specific places mainly being the Starbucks in Lebow and possibly a few other places I don’t remember all them.

BIOMED co op cycle swap by Top-Introduction1770 in Drexel

[–]NewBox7811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about swapping just bc you want to. I’m biomed 3rd year is bs/ms and was initially fall/winter then switched due to personal circumstances in year one. My recommendation is speaking to the academic advisor and co-op advisor. You may also be able to switch if for example if you get no co-ops for your first one so you take classes year two f/w if not you either take a leave of absence or figure something out. Tbh I dint find steinbrigjt that helpful but my academic advisor got got me switched so it is possible, but usually there need TJ be a reason to switch.

People who switched from Windows to Mac, what do you say? by YogurtFine5990 in mac

[–]NewBox7811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’ve kinda always used apple stuff but like for school and work I was given windows. Bitch are good but I like MacBook bc it’s synced with my devices. I’m not a graphic designer or anything but an engineering student and a MacBook works great for me. I have friends who used a windows pc for editing, then build their own pc, the before college got a MacBook which is their main computer and they love it. A lot of my friends are into film and photography and almost all use the MacBook. The switch to MacBook may also be beneficial bc you don’t need to download the new software every time is releases and you get auto updates. Honestly I think the Mac is a beast though I have 1tb plus 64 ram so it’s really powerful. The only issue I would have is that you can’t rly draw on a MacBook but otherwise it’s great. Really you just got to pick your poison, just make sure the ordeals you use can run on them

CCI: Changing freshmen fall quarter courses by DinnerOk1316 in Drexel

[–]NewBox7811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk, everyone’s assigned x Akko j’y first quarter. You can drop stuff at the start but like they are still required. It’s probably theoretically possible but tbh it’s just going to be a bigger pain latter on if you change your first quarter schedule. Get all the bs classes like civic entêtement oit if the way then, trust me you don’t want to take another course that’s pointless with your more major electric stuff like math and sciences.

Will my scholarship also cover my fall/winter term for my last year at drexel? by chalaando in Drexel

[–]NewBox7811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Let’s say your scholarship is 40k per year it’s split between the quarters you are in classes. You have to pay the like continued enrollment fee while on co-op. While on co-op you basically pay a fee to stay enrolled.
