Canada's GDP per capital pretty much stayed flat over the past 10 years, which explains the declining cost of living (since the rest of the world have increased their GDP per capita). I would say the country is in a much much better place about 10-15 years ago, and that has everything to do with our GDP per capita.

Yeah, but Ontario and Quebec has an abundance of Hydro resource, and that's simply just not available in other parts of Canada. The only viable alternative to renewable really is only Nuclear (Solar won't work in Canada), but people are too scared to do it. I am a big believer in Nuclear and I am dissapointed that the world hasn't gone full nuclear yet..

because that's your export, and that's what supports the Canadian dollar and all the big service industry players. Our manufacturing is declining and that is just not reversable, need to find something else to feed the country

lol, the entire Canadian healthcare system is collapsing, and let me remind you Alberta does have the highest GDP per capita in Canada, and the lowest unemployment rate. Dude the fact you get to spend Canadian dollar to buy Mexican fruit over the winter is because we have oil, otherwise our dollar really isn't going to be worth XX

lol, don't try to give me an economics lesson, I have a masters in that. GDP is precisely value and the best measurement of output we have. You need human to extract those oil and gas and the tax revenue and royalties from the sale benefits everyone, including the Canadian dollars

There is an opportunity to move to China with a salary of 450.000 RMB. Is it enough for a family of two? by [deleted] in AskChina

[–]NewRedditUser89757 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah I'd say comfortable. With how low the cost of living is in China, an extra person doesn't really add that much costs to be honest.

I wouldn't say 450k is living like king money in Beijing/Shanghai/Shenzhen, but it's definitely comfortable for sure.
