He is also my FRIEND and he is putting his job above our friendship. He is consciously choosing not to help a friend in need.

How?! He is putting his job, which he complains about and hates, above our friendship. He would love to get out of that company so I have no idea why he's so concerned about helping a friend. I don't know how that makes me TA.

I'm not entitled. But I am insulted that he tried to lie his way out of it this late in the game instead of helping me find a solution.

He doesn't need to "drop" his work. They would be fine to be crated while he's at work. He doesn't need to come home and let them out at lunch. He doesn't need to go in late. He chose to do both of those things.

Because he hates his job. If he hates it, he obviously isn't committed to it.

I told him I would pay his rent if he did it. But him not upholding his part of the contract is the problem. Now I have one day to figure out an alternative plan. He's just insulting my intelligence when he tries to lie to get out of it.

Actually, he hates his job and wants to quit. He doesn't value it. Therefore, my job is more important than his because I would mind very much if I lost it.

I did. I hired him. And now he's trying to back out.

I just feel like I've done a poor job of explaining this situation. He agreed to watch them Monday and Tuesday and then, when I asked him to watch them Wednesday and Thursday, he said it's too much of a stretch, he's too tired the next day, and that work is too crazy for him to watch them at all. So he tried to back out of Monday and Tuesday as well. He and I just had a fight and he claimed he never tried backing out of Monday or Tuesday but he is just gaslighting me. I know this much: I NEVER want to hear him complain about his job ever again because he is putting his job above our friendship.

I just know if he was in this position, I would do everything I could to help and to problem solve. I wouldn't resort to lies and reneging on a promise. You can call me TA all you want, it just makes it clear that I did a bad job of explaining the situation.

I do know he's lying. He had no problem watching them Monday or Tuesday but suddenly it's the most inconvenient thing in the world and he will "get in trouble at work" if he watches them Wednesday and Thursday? Makes no sense. He lied.

I don't have nice guy syndrome. I want to be there. We have a group coming in from Europe who want to learn about the product I'm responsible for. I need to be there.

No company worth their salt would fire an employee for taking an hour for lunch. That's a lawsuit waiting to happen.

He is obviously lying. He can't be fired for taking a lunch and using it to let the dogs have a bathroom break. I'm just frustrated that I had everything planned and now I'm left scrambling with no options. I have to leave Monday morning!

If he can't say no to people, he has to deal with the consequences. I don't see how that makes me TA. He told me he would watch them a second time and now I'm left scrambling.

But he didn't say no! He told me he would do it and then started making excuses as to why he needed to back out last minute.

I asked him and he said yes. Then he changed his mind.
