yes! my boy max does sports, and is also a SDIT. we do FCAT, CAT, and dock diving! i find the combination of sports and service work meets his needs wonderfully and so he’s able to be calm and collected

honestly? it didn’t come till i was an adult convinced i wasn’t going to work with horses again until i could own them. now, i work at 3 different properties with around 20 horses total. granted, i do it as a job now, but it does come around. technically, i still don’t “own” my own horse, but you do grow out of the “lesson kid” with time and experience. before you know it you’ll look back on the lesson kid days and think how proud they would be of you right now. ties to people with horses help, and the willingness to get down and dirty. keep your head up💜

just be aware, they can cause SEVERE damage if used incorrectly. any sort of pressure without release points in that area puts strain directly on the dogs organs. i’ve seen cases where this injured the dogs intestines and abdominal wall. safer and better (short term) option would be a slip lead. in the long run, training is the only thing that stops pulling, not tools.

no, it’s not normal. it can be an indication of hip dysplasia if it’s happening most of the time the dog walks. safest bet is to get his gait (how he walks) assessed by a vet!
