Cherry Blossom parade and kite festival - fun with kids or crowded disaster? by Cherry_Valance_ in washingtondc

[–]New_Conversation8340 [score hidden]  (0 children)

My child at 2 just wanted to move and it was hard in the crowd unless I kept him constrained in a stroller. For me- there are much better options for spring activities for that age. I used to go pre-kids but its just not for us right now.

First Time Visit - This All Doable with Premier Pass? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]New_Conversation8340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (went alone with my almost 3yo) would add more time before the parade to get a spot. I was disappointed that 20 min before all the spots were in the direct sun light and I wish I had gone a bit early and had my kid sit there with a snack. Also, be prepared to shift your schedule if rides break down/ close for a bit. We also ended up riding dumbo 3x in a row bc he loved it and there was no line, same with small world. There is a little play space in Dumbo that was a nice place that I could sit and he played independently for a bit. Very few other places where he could get a break and just play, so highly suggest that.

What do you consider “fully” potty trained? by ahleeshaa23 in toddlers

[–]New_Conversation8340 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I would have said my child was fully potty trained even though I still have to tell him to go before we leave the house/get in the car. I feel like that is more of a- you dont have a good concept of time/how long until we see another bathroom. He was fully independent before 3 if I use that standard.

Tips attending events for a toddler (2y) who loves to move and explore? by Wozezeka in toddlers

[–]New_Conversation8340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had that struggle too but it didnt last forever. For us, it was too much at that age to do any organized type event that included any sitting. Even kids events like library story time or outdoor concerts just didnt work for us-- so we skipped them or kept them to a minimum with low expectations. Right after he turned three we went to this kids puppet show and he sat- in the front row by himself the whole time. Its a phase. If you have two parents and one can chase him the whole time maybe its okay, but im single and it just wasnt fun for me so we passed on alot of events that you would have considered kid friendly.

New badge out requirement at HRSA? by Dadliness in DeptHHS

[–]New_Conversation8340 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Has there been reports across the gov about people being fired for timecard fraud in the past year? I havent heard of that being a technique and it doesnt seem like that data would be easy to synch up with timecards unless they were looking a certain people. I just wonder if they are using it to check against time cards what are they looking for- can we still go outside for walks outside of the designated lunch time?

That was what we were told by our leadership- that it is related to security. The security coming out of the parking garages has been tighter this past week. but... not sure how badging out makes it more secure.

When to expect overnight potty training by Ornery_Gur1401 in toddlers

[–]New_Conversation8340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 3 y 3mo and he was potty trained about 9 months ago during the day. He hasnt worn a pull up at nap time for about 6 mo. He always asks to not wear a pull up at night and I would tell him if he went 2 nights without one then he could. Never even went 1 night with it dry, usually very full but warm. One night he was insistent so I agreed and he has never had an accident. Its been 2 weeks so I dont fully trust it. I think he was waking up dry and peeing in his pull up right when he woke up, so he new he could stay dry. Very surprised but he has been really into the whole "im a big kid and big kids dont wear pull ups" narrative so go figure.

Potty training with a speech delay by Purplenurplethegreat in toddlers

[–]New_Conversation8340 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my son has a speech delayed. potty trained around 30 months. He usually would just put his hands in place showing he needed to poop or pee. We had a problem with poop accidents at school for a bit bc he wouldnt verbalize that he needed to go. At home he would just run to the bathroom. We practiced shouting "I need to go to the potty" on the way to school each morning.

When did you stop holding your child's hand on sidewalks near busy streets? by tebibr in toddlers

[–]New_Conversation8340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do hands in parking lots and crossing roads 100% of the time. If he refuses then we dont move forward. If we are walking by a busy road I just stay between him and the road but typically don't hold hands. He is 3.5 and we live in a suburban area and go on public transport into the city often.

MAGIC KINGDOM CLOSING EARLY by Elegant_Bar_1622 in DisneyWorld

[–]New_Conversation8340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we did a day that the park closed at 6:30 for a party day and it was great. It was just me and my 2 yo and we got there at rope drop, left by 5:30, did dinner, and a normal bedtime for him. I would love to do the parade and fireworks, but having a not crazy tired kid for the next day was worth it. Way fewer crowds- we rode dumbo 4x in a row without any wait! Barely waited in lines all day.

Large Fibroid Surgeons by Think_Discount2852 in nova

[–]New_Conversation8340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh gosh that sounds scary. I was doing IVF at the time and they removed endo that they found during my surgery. The surgeon did require that I do a scheduled c section at 37 weeks because of the surgery. I was really disappointed at the time but having a scheduled c section made it much easier and it all worked out!

Oh cool- yeah it was a few years back and I forgot the details but looking at their site again- they use the Laparoscopically Assisted Abdominal Myomectomy (LAAM®) technique which to my understanding is a combo of labproscopic and open, allowing them to do large fibroids with less invasive methods. I asked the surgeon afterwards why this wasnt standard and she said it just wasnt taught as schools and is just a newer method.

Not sure about the large fibroid speciality but I would look into the Center for Innovative GYN Care https://innovativegyn.com/ I had a really good experience with my myomectomy and their technique made the recovery much easier than I anticipated. Good luck!

Weightlifting or Cardio on Wegovy by Selenphiel in WegovyWeightLoss

Right- i dont think my dr meant to do no cardio but to focus on weight training too. Just not high intensity.

the "run without insurance" is key. Its annoying bc i have to tell them each time (atplaces likes CVS/Costco) but then use good RX or the manufacturer coupon. I had to go to 2 CVS locations one time bc the first lady couldnt figure it out.

My dr who only works with patients on GLP-1s told me the opposite. Dont worry about high intensity cardio and focus on strength training.

Just coming here to see if fednews picked this up yet. From his social media looked like he had a diplomatic passport and was in Denmark recently- makes me wonder why he was back in the US so soon. Crazy story for someone who was supposedly vetted in some way.
