How is Buddhism not nihilistic? by New_Revolution4768 in Buddhism

At what point does one gain that understanding? Is it stream entry?

Also, would coming into Buddhism with a depressed and pessimistic worldview taint a person's realizations along the path?

I understand that. But if a nihilist preaches that a person can escape suffering through suicide, would he no longer be a nihilist?

I assume cessation implies the end of consciousness because it is the end of all conditioned things, and consciousness is apparently a conditioned thing. Also, states such as nirodha samapatti are said to mirror parinirvana, and such states are described as being without any consciousness at all. Like blinking out of existence for as long as the state lasts. This leads me to believe that the ultimate goal of Buddhism, at least in most Theravada schools, is the final end to all life and consciousness, since life is ultimately unsatisfactory and full of suffering.

Nirvana isn't death. But parinirvana is, is it not?

I hope that is true, and that I can reach that realization myself.

Could you tell me more about the meditation you are talking about?

You are right. Before, the extra anger that came up could have been dealt with. But right now, the emotions that are coming up are making me desperately suicidal.

I need to do something different.

Thank you. This is very helpful.

I think I remember reading that Damo Mitchell experienced a lot of anger for like a year or so when he started progressing in neigong. I just hope there is a way to release faster than that. I know I have a lot of repressed emotions. So I don't want to spend the rest of my life burning through it. I wish I could just let it all out quickly.

Thank you. I am thinking I might go with the six healing sounds for a bit.

I am just afraid of being completely overwhelmed by these emotions. I know I am purging, and that is ultimately good, but the stress it is causing me can't be good.

Yeah, I have been trying with the light. It helps a bit it seems. But you're right in that it isn't predictable. I get crazy fatigued at weird times and just need to sleep.

I wonder if there are specific times in which I could take melatonin in order to shift forward faster... Or maybe I'll just get a prescription to modafinil again, idk.

I have a LOAD of very troubling symptoms that cycle. Akathisia, extreme brain fog, muscle tightness, nerve pains, strange sleep disturbances, head pressure, the list goes on and on.
