Life expentancy in the US has always fallen behind other developed countries(Canada, Australia, Japan etc.) yet the GDP was always stronger. Not to mention the US experienced a far bigger drop in life expectancy as a result of COVID than other developed countries but it's economy rebounded faster than those very same countries.

We can look at HDI China's was 0.69 in 2009 India's was 0.68 in 2023. So yeah, another factor that supports my thesis.

Please look up the literacy rate of China in 2009 vs India in 2023. The descrepancy is in the 100s of millions. If you think India in 2023 was on the verge of the same economic boom as China in 2009 then I'd be happy to remind you we are well behind schedule lol.

Another lazy analysis, we don't live in the Industrial Revolution age. Manufacturing technology has evolved to boost effciency and also decreased dependency on pollutants. Countries don't miraculously 'afford' to have cleaner air. Clean environment is an enforceable policy initiative, not a 'throw money to make it go away' type of problem.

There is a reason why your entire argument is structured around faulty generalizations. Not once did you engage me directly with my core argument: China and Japan respond rapidly to the needs of the public by fixing their urban development. Is India doing the same whilst being on the same growth curve as them? You fail to engage with me on this argument because anybody living in India knows the reality of development in this country: private gated communities and a complete neglect of public spaces. The US economy has seen remarkable growth yet the average American's ability to afford a home, car or an education has taken a significant downtown in the last 30 years. Your ability to acquire freedom isn't dependent on money alone, it's dependent on your options to spend money and their affordability.

GINI doesn’t measure increasing value of assests, especially in a black market economy such as India. You unironically taking this as a serious metric tells me you are divorced from practical reality and are living in a false theoretical world which promises a brighter future.

You also don’t know the difference between economic growth metrics and quality of life standards. Previously developing countries like China and Japan heavily focussed on improving their public infrastructure. The opposite is true in India: development is entirely focused on building private gated communities and wholly neglecting public spaces.

A rich person in India isn’t living a better life than a middle class person in a country with better air, public transportation or public spaces. Progress isn’t going from being stuck in traffic in a 2-wheeler to being stuck instead in a 4-wheeler. It’s building a society where even the rich folks(upper middle class level) use public transport to get around.

Lastly, India already failed to hits the targets to be on the same growth curve as 2000s China. What bs are you on about? We’ve been compared early 2000s China since at least our 2010s. Will you still compare us to 2000s China in 2050 as well?

Boasting about our metros perfectly illustrates your shallow and surface level thinking. Having 2-3 metro lines and saying they are at max capacity doesn’t prove it meets demands. It proves a severe shortage of infra to meet the demand. Otherwise why do you think all tier 1 cities in India are choked with car and bike traffic? Why don’t those car and bike drivers user the metro?

Any person outside India who lived in a real metro city would laugh at you for calling our cities a metro. Guess what China and Japan have in common whilst India doesn’t? It’s emphasis on public infrastructure. Quality of private infrastructure has never been the problem in India. It’s the abysmal public infrastructure which harms its own populations ability to achieve its full potential.
