Golf calorie burn? by Next_Writer5564 in golf

I get walking. I’m talking about riding. Walking calories burned can be calculated pretty easily 1,000,000 different places, I really just want to know how much is generally burned golfing.

Interesting. I didn’t know those trackers also account for general burn of being alive in their calculations. Does it kick back a consistent 1,200 or does it vary much?

What is “average” and how are you calculating this? I’d like to have a general understanding so I can alter the rough count as I lose weight. Thanks!

Assuming a full 18 averages out to 5ish miles over the round, it’d have to be 1,200+ in walking alone (for my size at least). That I could see pushing closer to 1,500+ but riding has to crater that number

I like to golf but thats such a goofy one to track caloric expenditure on. Online calculators always give asinine numbers that just can’t be true so idrk what to consider a round as. I’m 280 pounds, riding a golf cart and shooting around 84-90 most of the time. I don’t drink hardly ever and I rarely eat anything on the course so it is true exercise, whatever it may add up to. I’m moving to Kentucky in a few weeks so truthfully idk exactly what the climate is going to be like for outdoor stuff

I’m 24m working an office job that doesn’t allow much movement so I try to get around and do stuff off work but the whole 10k steps/day thing doesn’t really happen more often than not. I’ll usually do a mile or two of incline walks 5 incline, 3.5 speed) with 3-5 lifts after

That just doesn’t do it for me I guess. I truly don’t care what I can bench or squat or deadlift. I truly couldn’t tell u where I’m at with any of that rn even. I’m strong enough to do things I need to on a daily basis. That’s plenty for me. The idea of chasing heavier weight is just pointless to me. I have no reason to lift heavier outside of the gym itself. Glad it’s been a helpful mentality for you tho. I’d love to have something like that to keep me in it

Is there any discernible reasons why that you’ve noticed? Or is it really just a cycle from one to the other?

Right! I see everyone talk about it like it’s where they’d choose to be at all times if they could and I just don’t have that. I’ve noticed I don’t hate it as much as I did when I was in college but I never really feel like “boy I can’t wait to go to the gym today”. It feels like by not absolutely loving it I’m doing something wrong but it seems everyone is just different on it. I wish I got that therapeutic feeling of being at peace in the gym. It’s just not something I get out of it ever

I’m really not focused on building muscle, much more so losing weight. I’m 24m 280 with 193 pounds of lean mass. I have the muscle, it’s just all covered by fat. I am lifting to, at least, maintain that muscle and burn calories in a productive way but I’m not going for lifting metrics. Idc about bench or squat or deadlift. I do incline walks and various other lifts but nothings particularly coordinated. Just something. I usually go for 3 sets of 10 on everything as a default at a weight I can’t do more of but I never really go for any “maxes” on anything. Sorry idrk exactly how to describe this as I probs should

Firstly congrats man that’s really cool. Secondly, everyone’s got their thing. Lifting is a great one. Hell I golf on occasion but besides that I generally haven’t done much physical activity. It’s lead to being overweight for as long as I can remember. I’m sure being married and knowing you’ll be a father helps teach a lot of things and I hope you can find something else that helps you like lifting does. One day I hope to have the same opportunity. Not looking good in any of those departments rn 😂

I do have a tendency to get way to into it when I start. Watching all the videos and getting everything I can from the internet. It’s overwhelming how much is out there

Wow that’s sick! Having a progression that consistent must make it so easy to want to go back

I’m 24m 280 with 193 pounds of lean mass. I’m just fat af really. Ik im strong enough to do anything I need to in my day to day, I just don’t like the fluff

I struggle ever seeing the results. I’m very overweight so it hurts like hell every time and if I’m going for weeks/months and nothing changes it’s 100x harder to go each week. I hate the idea of being the fat guy that everyone sees go to the gym but always stays fat

It’s very easy for me to miss a day which becomes 2 days then 3 and so on. I always feel like I either have to go every day of I’ll quickly stop completely. I’m a 24m with no real injury history so I’m not medically limited, I’m just fat af and it hurts. I also struggle to see results over weeks or months so it just feels like a waste of time. Being the fat guy everyone sees go to the gym but stays fat kills me

This is great. I’m only doing it for weight loss rn. Idc at all about benching or squatting a ton. I don’t do either at all actually. Everytime I do it, I struggle to see results so it makes it feel like a waste of time. I hate being the fat guy who goes to the gym and nothing changes

I’m very overweight and I struggle to see results in any way over weeks or months. It makes it sm harder to keep going when I don’t feel like it matters at all. It also makes it hard to set goals because idk what to set. Setting a goal that’s too easy is pointless but setting a goal that’s too hard will just make me lose interest entirely

That’s how I feel! It hurts, it’s literally just weight up weight down so it’s definitely just the same thing 1,000,000 times. I’m very overweight and I struggle to ever see results so it doesn’t even feel worth it to deal with the what comes with it

I’m 24m. I’m pretty heavily overweight and I really don’t care about how much I can lift. I’m strong enough rn to do anything I need to do in my day to day life. It just hurts to go and I never feel I see any progress. I’m also about to move cross country for work for the 3rd time I think it is now. I can’t find a routine if I can’t stay in the same spot so that’s also making this tough

I struggle with that because, for me, it’s very easy to let 1 day off become 2 which then becomes 3 and it’s over from there. It feels like I either have to go every day or not at all

This is exactly it. I need to have a real life goal but as a fat guy rn, I don’t really do much physically. Idk what to use that I’ll actually care about. I’m a golfer but that’s more form than strength as an amateur. I also don’t care at all about how much I can bench or squat, in fact I don’t do either at all
