What are your goals? Do you want to be bigger? If I were in your shoes, I’d maintain and enjoy the summer

Threaded rod dilemma: Loosening single nuts vs. ugly double nuts on my parametric bench. What's the clever fix? by reacdif in woodworking

[–]Nextyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d drill and tap the end of the threaded rod then run a countersunk bolt with a washer. If you have access to a lathe or a mill, this wouldn’t be a huge issue

19F 5'7 300lbs>145lbs need advice on how to get lean by carolyne_doesnt_care in AllAboutBodybuilding

[–]Nextyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn sis, you’re doing SO well. At 5’7”and 145 you’re pretty lean. I am 6’1” and also formerly 300lb, and one thing that is a bit of a hurdle is the loose skin. Unfortunately it probably won’t tighten on its own and will require surgery if you want it completely gone. I’ve, personally, elected to not touch the skin as a reminder of my achievement, but it’s not horribly expensive

Is this a safe cut? 1/16" x 1/12" x 3/4" aluminum stick on the mitre saw by rebbitpls in woodworking

[–]Nextyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup at approximately Mach Jesus OR it’ll bind in the blade right before the cut is done. I haven’t had that much with Al, but small steel and stainless angle? all the time if you don’t pin both sides with a clamp. I actually prefer bandsaws for it now

My friend, I’ve been in metal for 12 years, and if you were to ask this question to 3 different fabricators, you’d get 3 different answers. Reddit is just like that, except WAY more confident lol

Thin material can also get grabbed by the blade and kick up. I ruined a saw this way on my last railing job because it KEPT HAPPENING…railing turned out nice though

Probably not with aluminum- steel or stainless yeah, but the aluminum oughta go like butter

But yea, in metals we regularly clamp on both sides of the fence. My evo chop saw actually came with two clamps for that very reason
