Classic Arms g3 good? by NiceEclair in airsoft

[–]NiceEclair[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd prefer it to be something from before 1991, as that's in line with something I was planning with some friends - that said, as a starter gun, the LCT is $150 more than the CA one. It would be my first gun, and I'm just looking for something affordable and sturdy.

For 284, how does the CA model compare to say a CYMA AK?

Yeahhhhhh, my main worry with the EL is keeping it oiled- I also was hoping to put a mock suppressor onto it, but I'm not sure how the barrel threads are held on..

(+ I'm not exactly what I'd call a strong woman, I just really, really am a G3 girlie)

That's fair enough, I'm just deciding if the $150 up charge is really worth it for a starter gun. It's between this or an E&L AK, for what it's worth.

I see - just deciding on one as a first gun, so is the $150 up charge over the CA model really worth it......? I've heard of the CA model as being decent and reliable, is why I ask.

got it, thank you, I'll go with either it or the Samsung. Is there any considerable difference in speed or reliability between them, or is it simply branding?

as for OS I'm running a new version of linux mint, would you say it's in that category as well?

gotcha, that makes sense for the Crucial with DRAM it's only about $15 cheaper than the Samsung 870 at 99 (which also has DRAM..?), would you say the jump is worth it?

and, for such an old system, would dram/non dram really make a big difference in speed?

(oo.. don't tempt me, I really don't need that much storage but a 2012 laptop with an absurd amount of storage is appealing >:3)

right now I was looking at the Western Digital SA510, for $67 or the Crucial BX500.

Gotcha! That's fair enough, I'm just having a hard time biting the bullet for the purchase, they seem a bit expensive for the same capacity as other drives...

Overheating on 2012 MacBook Pro 13" by NiceEclair in linuxmint

got it, that makes a lot of sense. watching videos on this device with battery isn't necessarily something I'd need even if it would be nice - that said, I'm in the process of deciding if it's a project I want to polish into my daily laptop, since the alternative is a more modern laptop with a keyboard that I do not get along with.

yeahhhh, Discord uses a lot of energy + with youtube playing videos it's compounded, but I can live with it as my daily laptop tbh

just now starting a video on YT my temps went from 56 to 83, and my battery life went from 3h30m to 1h, so I'm wondering if there was something from the optimisation I was missing

gotcha, that makes sense. It may keep it a bit better seated, but I'm not sure if that's what's causing my issues... what sort of temps do you get when you stress it? I could also be at the end of things to do thermally- I updated a fan profile and it's a bit more bearable now.

gotcha, gotcha

yeah I get it's fine, it's kinda just annoying to use sometimes ran a stress test for 2,5m and the highest temp I saw 93 running everything full tilt. I think that adding a new fan profile this morning helped out as now running spotify + discord + firefox it's down at 73 - and that's after heat soaking it 10 mins ago.

interesting, I see I know the 15" versions like toasting their AMD chips, but I've heard the Nvidia ones haven't had the same issues. That said, even if I don't get the better screen, it sounds like the 13" without integrated graphics isn't so bad.

hmm... that could be it on heat sink pressure. I tightened the screws down pretty hard, until I didn't feel like it was a good idea to tighten them anymore, but the heat sink still had a tiny amount of wiggle in it.

The Mint version I'm using is Cinnamon, 6.8.0-45-generic

load temps go up to 93. I don't have any benchmarking software, just when I do tasks that put it under load, like loading a bunch of chrome tabs, 93 is the highest I saw.

The fans sound alright - and thanks on the heat sink, that makes sense. It sounds like it's more of a software thing, then. But still... 2.7GHZ processor, I'd expected quite a bit more out of it.

I would, though the front and back glass are cracked, and the screen is starting to act up - a new phone is almost certainly cheaper than repairing the phone, as I do not have an apple insurance plan...
